In the immortal words of The Hawk.

He gone.

Guess the long anticipated Bradley/Wedge blowout will never happen.

Buh bye Bradley. I'm sure there is an Independent team somewhere that wants a jerk-off like you... not sure if that team would be located in the US, though.

I would listen to you call me a racist but I have ear-plugs in (mooning)

Hope to never hear from ya again :fu:

I knew it wouldnt be long until that douche bag Wedge pulled some shit like this. It wont be long before he benches Ichiro for some career AAA 5th OF and has Dustin Ackely DFAed to play some stool sample utility infielder.

You're forcing it now.

Let it be natural. Trying way too hard.

If you're an Indians fan be grateful that the Tribe doesn't have to face Bradley and his 5-tools (Which are- Anger, hate, lack of accountability, spite and his mother).

Bradley was 4th on that shitty team in OPS. The only better were Smoak, Ichiro, and Adam Kennedy (who I dont even think qualifies). What sense does it make to drop him? It is not like they have anyone else knocking on the door. If he was truly was in fact a cancer, and the decision came down from the GM, then fine, but if this is another BP/Ramon Vazquez situation, it just proves Wedge has no business in a managerial role.

In 28 games, the 33-year-old Bradley hit .218 with 2 homers and 13 runs batted in. He was making $13 million this season. “The situation with Milton is that we determined he’s not part of our future and not part of our present,” Mariners General Manager Jack Zduriencik said.

and..

And, as expected, it didn't end well. Bradley was designated for assignment Monday, a year and a quarter into his time with the Mariners. The ending was slightly different than anticipated, however. While Bradley remains a headache, the Mariners released him mostly because he can't play anymore.

Bradley was hitting .218 this season and playing some of the worst outfield defense ever seen. He only played 73 games and hit .205 last season.

It was obvious after this weekend that the Mariners needed to let him go. He was booed for his lack of hustle in the outfield on Saturday night. On Sunday, he played harder, but he looked just as bad, especially on a terrible, off-target throw to the plate that catcher Miguel Olivo dropped, leading to chaos.

snip

The Mariners did the best they could with Bradley. So did the seven other teams that believed he could help them. He received ample chances to turn his life around and become a stable ballplayer, but he never did. Now, his career is probably over.

Bradley is only 33, but he can't field his position anymore, and he has little value as a hitter. And he's a headache. I can't see another team taking a real chance on him. He'll get looks and calls and flirt with some opportunities, but his days as a full-time major leaguer are over.

Teams will tolerate mercurial talent. They won't tolerate mercurial waste. And, sadly, that's what Bradley is now.

I wish him well. I'm never happy when a player gets released. And I don't think Bradley is a bad guy. He does, however, have some serious mental problems that he needs to continue to address.

The Mariners made the right move cutting ties with Bradley. Let's hope Bradley makes the right decisions in life now that he no longer will have a bunch of teams standing in line, eager to enable him, all in the pursuit of talent.

Enough?

Or ya need more? ;-) ;)

BOSTON -- Left fielder Milton Bradley was ejected by second-base umpire Gerry Davis in the third inning of Saturday night's game at Fenway Park, shortly after breaking an 0-for-22 slump with an RBI double that held up as the winning run in the Mariners' 2-0 victory over the Red Sox.

Bradley was tossed for yelling at first-base umpire Todd Tichenor following a questionable call as he stood on second base.

and

Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley served a one-game suspension Tuesday for an incident at Boston's Fenway Park last Saturday. Bradley was also fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball.

and then

Milton Bradley was ejected from Friday's game in the eighth inning for arguing a called third strike.
Three days after he served a one-game suspension. Bradley had to be pulled away from the home plate ump by manager Eric Wedge before exiting the field.

I doubt Jack Z gives Wedge any power to make such a move in Seattle. Bad things usually happened whenever he had a hand in player personnel moves in Cleveland.

That said, cutting MB was the only way to go. I watched a bit of the M's/Chisox last week. Somebody hit a blooper to LF. An easy out with most players. MB trotted in a few steps & let the ball fall about 2 feet in front of him. The fans let him have it, as they should. MB needs some serious mental help.

Rumor has it that Wedge's facial tick has gone away. Wedge to MB was like Chief Inspector Dreyfuss to Inspector Clouseau.

Don't pity him too much, he made well over $30M in his career.

Also keep in mind that the only reason the M's had him was that they thought he couldn't be any worse than Carlos Silva, whom they dealt to the Cubs for Bradley. Aside from a half of a year where Silva was OK for Chicago, both players pretty much sucked and were let go by their respective teams. Both were mental cases.

The biggest clown in all of this was Jim Hendry for signing Bradley to that craptastic contract.

People pan Shapiro for bad trades. How about this one in involving MB: December 13, 2005: Traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers with Antonio Perez to the Oakland Athletics for Andre Ethier.

Whoops!

One could argue that one of the best things Wedge did for this organization was to jettison MB and all of his baggage before he cost them much of anything. What we saw here was just the tip of the iceberg. What little he contributed in the bigs was clearly outweighed by the baggage he brought to the party. Good riddance.

Interesting that we got Andrew Brown and Franklin Gutierrez(who is now reunited with Wedge) for The Game. After getting The Game from the Dodgers, the Athletics traded him to the Padres for Andrew Brown, who we traded to the Padres along with Kevin Kouzmanoff for Josh Barfield. Kouzmanoff was later traded to the A's, and Andrew Brown later signed with them as a free agent.

Agreed.

There's not a single interesting element to any of that and there's not a single name on the list that will ever rise above mediocre in terms of their impact on major league baseball.

Most (of the few remaining) will have to increase their contributions just to reach mediocre.

I never said that any of those were stars like BP, Luke Scott, Guthrie etc.

A likely story....

It's true.

And you completely missed my hilarious but stealthy joke there.

I didn't miss it, just ignored it. I figured maybe ignoring it would get you to stop doing it but you seem pretty proud of it. This doesn't bode well for future columns where I can foresee every first name being wrong as a running joke.

Man, MB was making $13M this year??? Was it guaranteed? Sad.

That's enough for him to make his dream come true.....buying a house next door to Gary Sheffield, Albert Belle and/or Carl Everett, Bradley's personal heroes.

Something tells me this is not the last we're going to hear about this cat!

All douche-bags, but the difference is that they actually got it done on the field year in and year-out.

You can be as big a dick as you want to be as long as you're getting it done.

I think they should claim him and DFA Kearns. His bat off the bench would be an improvement.
