Grady Sizemore looks better at the plate than he ever has, in my opinion. Even in his great 2005 season he wasn't going the opposite way like this.

It's just too bad he's also as slow as he has ever been. When he gets his speed back, watch out.

Little more than a few feet. Cabrera should have caught it, it was in his glove.

Grady's now matched his XBH total from last season...... it took 140ABs last year and just 30ABs this.

See if Acta wasn't such a nob we could have had Hafner batting with men on base in his first 3 plate appearances today so far. Instead his first 2 at bats have been with the bases empty. Drop Santana!

Choo and Santana have 5 at-bats, they've hit 4 double play balls.

Jesus christ that's awful. At least Choo beat 2 of them out, but my god they are abysmal right now.

Yuck.

Choo seems to be trying extra hard to ground into a double play. If we're moving Santana, maybe he should be moved out of the 3 hole too with a 7:22 BB:K ratio.

I have Ricky GIDP flashbacks when watching Santana at the plate right now.

Well, 4 DP balls and Choo's opposite field single.

Course of Melke should have caught it. But a few feet more and that would have been out of there.

The single was nice. The double play ball 1 pitch later that nullified it....not so much.

Ugh.

I have complete faith Choo and Santana will turn it around in a big way, but right now Hafner should hit 3rd. He's our best hitter (at least outside of Sizemore).

It didn't even hit the wall. He would have had to hit it another 40 feet to get it over the wall for a home run; it wasn't close.

The only reason I can see for the postponement of Santana's demotion in the lineup is that Acta doesn't want 3 lefties batting in the top 4 of the order (and Hafner following Choo) Otherwise I can't see why we're forfeiting runs by having Santana batting 4th.

If it weren't for this, it would have happened already. There comes a time when you can't wait any longer though, and if it hasn't already come, it's fast approaching.

And Cabrera is going to get hit next time he comes up.

Edit: I take that back. If the game is still close, they'll wait til tomorrow.

I'd wait until the first inning tomorrow when it's not a one-run game in the first game of the series. Plunk him on the first pitch on Wednesday.

I'd go one further and put him 3rd. A team should have its best hitter in the 3-spot. Hafner is definitely our best run producer right now (or he would be if he wasn't constantly leading off innings because Santana kills every rally).

Speed is pretty useless if you can't get on base. .264 OBP coming into tonight. Sure he has used his speed to beat out a couple grounders, but I want more from my 3-hitter than just beating out ground balls.

If you don't want LSLL at the top, you could still keep Santana 4th and put Choo 5th. It's not like there's that much difference between Santana and Choo as hitters right now, anyway. That way you wouldn't have the consecutive lefties and you'd have Hafner hitting 3rd. I like that for now.

I can only assume Manny prefers the lefty-lefty match-up over Masterson going after him at 99 pitches.

I think Choo is performing marginaly Better than santanna right now..or at least he has a much better approach, he isnt trying to pull everything. I don't know. For as little as Santana is doing, he still has his good batting eye going with a 1:1 BB:B ratio. His problem is when he makes contact, it doesn't go anywhere. Maybe he still can't get any power because of the leg injury last year plus the akward slide he had a few weeks ago which seemed to give him some pain.

I was just worried in case Sipp had gotten bogged down in the 7th giving up free passes which he can do. But it went good.
