Grady's 2nd at bat in Gm. 1 in Toledo today for the Clippers? No doubt about it solo HR to RF in the top of the 3rd.

Also made a diving catch to end the 2nd inning before that.

Not conjecture, Manny/Antonetti have said it. They discussed it with team doctors before deciding. Look at the latest Inbox on indians.com for Bastian's explanation. Center gives him more room to decelerate. Not as much abrupt stopping by the side wall

As far as Sizemore balking about hitting 9th, Vizquel was willing to do it. Yes, it was a different team and all but he was still willing to bat 9th. This was also at a time that he was hitting at his peak averages. I don't know that he would have a problem with it though.

Like others have noted, I'd feel better if he had a month in Columbus. IMO 7th or 9th is where to start him off in the order.

I'd be surprised if Sizemore is not hitting 7th or 8th when he comes back. No sense to mess with the top 6 in the lineup right now as they are doing just fine. Not a fan of Sizemore 6th right after Hafner 5th, so I keep O-Cab at 6 and insert Sizemore 7th and slide LaPorta to 8th. Pretty sure this is how it goes. Now, once Sizemore comes back and if he re-establishes himself, it will be an interesting decision with what they do with him.

What about batting Grady 6th and dropping Santana?

Carlos was brought up in June of last year and from June 11- June 30 he hit .345.

Since then he is 27-for-113 for an average of .203. That's right, take away his first three weeks and he's hitting .203 against major league pitching. So far this year he's at .209. No way he should be hitting 4th right now. His swing is too long and he's trying to pull everything. They're toying with him right now.

I might go with:

1. Brantley
2. Droobs
3. Choo
4. Pronk
5. O. Cabrera
6. Grady
7. Santana
8. LaPorta
9. Hannahan/Everitt

I'm not too crazy about hitting three lefties in a row at 3-4-5, but I can't justify batting either Santana or Grady at 3 or 4 right now ahead of Choo and Hafner. I would also play Marson a little more as long as he's swinging a hot bat and Santana is cold.

Hafner should be moved to cleanup, regardless of what they do w Grady. He's clearly the teams best power bat right now. He looks outstanding.

^^^I think lefties at 3-4-5 is a worse scenario than having either Sizemore or Santana at the top of the lineup, despite Santana's struggles and Grady's...whatever reason we have for keeping him at the bottom of the lineup.

I'm not saying I'm opposed to dropping Santana, I'm just not very enthusiastic about that lineup.

Hopefully the way it goes is like this, meaning In a perfect world everybody stays healthy, Hafner is back, and Laporta continues to perform and gets better. With Laporta progressing you can switch his and Cabrera's spots in the lineup, I would imagine people want Sizemore behind Hafner instead of Cabrera because lets face it Sizemore is a far more dynamic offensive player with more power but you dont want the back to back lefties. LaPorta becomeing a legitimate power hitter negates this problem and then you have a right hander between the two lefties.

Even if Grady hits well, this team isn't going to continue to play +.700 ball. Right now this team is 5th in the AL in OPS, but 3rd in runs scored because of some great hitting with RISP. The offense is pretty good, but it's not so good that we can outright refuse to make any changes. When that .327 BA w/ RISP drops to a more normal level, we're going to see the offense drop, and hopefully people don't blame this move.

I can also see the side of the arguement that says, if there was ever a good time to try Grady OUT of the leadoff, nows a good time too....since you don't lose anything at the leadoff position....

Completely disagree. Even if there was reason to have even the slightest hysteria over the lineup, inserting what you consider to be your best offensive player at the top of the lineup is not a "balls move". Now, we can debate to no end how healthy Sizemore actually is, but none of us can be truly certain. If the team trusts the doctors evaluation that Sizemore can play, then Acta should be putting him at the top of the lineup until it is demonstrated that he isn't the same player. And a second leadoff guy? This isn't little league where you have to keep everyone's spirit up.
