Some negatisim towrds choo the last couple days but he has had few good games in a row and key hits in all

gave us an insurance run that we needed tonight.........

I'm pretty sure he has 2 of our 3 hits with the bases loaded this season. That should count for something.

I haven't heard the negative criticism of Choo. He has killed at AAA and he did good things here last year. Anyway, he had the hit of the night tonight after Michaels and Peralta choked with the bases loaded.

IMO, I would have rather gone with Choo and Francisco in a lefty-righty platoon in RF rather than resigning Michaels and signing Nixon. That $5M we blew on those two could be put to better use. And, likely Dellucci would not have been signed, although I am still okay with that signing.

I still think the original plan was to sign Alou or trade for Sheffield and plug one of them into LF, and then go with that platoon of Choo and Michaels/Francisco in RF.....it just never materialized because Alou wanted to stay in the NL even for much less money and the three way of Sheffield, Kouz and Linebrink never materialized either.

I love the Trot Nixon signing. I agree though, I think that Shap's plan was to bring in a "big bat" and stick him at one of the corner outfield spots but it just didn't pan out. It's a shame we couldn't get Shef. Anyway, there are some nice options out there this offseason.

I get the sense that it was Alou that Shapiro had his eye on as that stop-gap "power" guy to bring in during the off-season. Didn't the Indians offer him a lot more money, but he chose to go play for the Mets instead?

I didn't really see any "criticism" of Choo either, it was more that he could have used a bit more seasoning in AAA, and that there wasn't a whole lot of room for him up here. I do believe that he can develop into a pretty decent player, so keeping him up here probably wouldn't hurt. The OF would look better if we could see the same people out there every day.

Tony prolly knows better, but my recollection is that we offered the same money and a second year, but Alou just wanted to play in New York at that point (he's old, he's rich, he can make that decision).

I need to know what happened that allowed Kelly Shopach the oppurtunity to advance from 2nd to 3rd on a flyout to CF.

Then he scores on a passed ball. Who says these guys can't manufacture a run?

Choo's throw was a seed. Straight on a line to Shoppach without hitting the ground. Threw out Lofton by five feet.

Also, I don't recall the specifics myself, but I believe our offer to Alou was 2 years $16-18M vs. the 1 year $7-8M he signed for with the Mets.

Did anyone see that throw today. damn, that was some rocket he threw, especially to get Lofton in enough time, I mean Lofton has no chance. Choo has really stepped up. He's been doing sooooo much better that Delucci. It's that Shoppach thing, where someone's hurt, the person filling in has some good hits, and especially similar, is a rocket arm. One rocket to another, Choo in Left is where he should be.
