Choo isnt horrible. Maybe they have more options on him? Thats sumtin Consig would know. I do however think Choo has a decent eye at the plate, Consig said it was his work ethic that got him demoted I believe...................... Maybe he's staightened things out.

It's May 2005 all over again. Deja vu with Eric Einstein Wedge.

Damn he's hopeless.

Now they should sign Juan Gonzalez to play 1B. If nothing else, he's fun to watch as he busts his butt, only to tear a ligament.

I like Choo, I'm glad they brought him up, hes a great ballplayer and hes pretty darn good defensively out there.

Got some pop in his bat too.

I don't understand the Choo callup at all.

We need a RH bat in the outfield, not another LH one.

Should have been Francisco or Gutierrez, and personally I would have given B-Fran the shot.

By the way, options are already being used on B-Fran, Gutierrez, and Choo, so it doesn't matter who you call up. You can callup and send down a player as many times you want in-season and it counts as one option.

Hey Tony,

Choo coming up makes more sense if Delucci is going to be unavailable for a couple more days or if headed to the DL. If Delucci goes to the DL then its time to bring back Frankie or give Ben F a chance.

Point noted.

But, then tomorrow we now have to start two lefties in the outfield against Santana. Joy.

Suitcase Delluci to the DL? I hope he packed his bandages.

Choo can field way better than Delluci. He would have dropped that liner tonight.

Just for argument's sake, I would ask who you would rather see batting 2nd in that lineup? In the earlier discussion about Peralta/Nixon in the 2 hole, I stated that I'd prefer to see a lefty in that spot, but in this lineup, if Nixon were to bat 2nd, we would start off with 3 straight left handers, and then after Martinez, have 3 straight right handers. I just think Wedge was trying to break up the lineup a bit. Plus, it's not like any of the other options (Nixon, eventually Barfield) are lighting it up.

As a plus, Blake had a good series.

I would prefer Nixon personally but I do see your points. Im just not a righty/lefty guy. I put my best hitters at the top regardless to get them as many AB's as possible.

If you have a right hander hitting second, and he can't move runners, he shouldn't be hitting at the top of the line-up in any position. I'm with Dozen here, if you've got a lefty that can do the job there, fine, but it really isn't that big of a deal if you have a righty there that know what he is doing.

One thing to keep in mind that in the American league, where there isn't a shortage of runs, there's going to be many more times when you need to HIT, not situational hit. If Paul Byrd's on the mound and your second hitter is rolling the ball to second base in the top of the first to move Sizemore up, what's really the point?
