He actually went to Betancourt in the 8th of a close game?

No Oldberto? Roberto must have slept through his wake up call.

And Betancourt came through with a good outing to top it off. He gave up a hit to Abreu after having him down 0-2 (and then watching the ump call balls on strike three and four) before getting A-Rod to pop up and striking out Giambi. Will this force Wedge to try again?

Betancourt's been pitching the 8th all season. He's gotten the first crack at being the set-up guy and has done quite well.

Why the surprise?

Is it my understanding they pitched to A-rod with first base open and the tying run at second base following the wild pitch, are they insane?

Your powers of understanding are, in fact, tremendous.

I am going to the pound after work to adopt a dog, name it Eric Wedge, and kick it.

(Not really. I feel ill, though.)

I've sadi it before, I'll say it again, Betancourt has pretty much always been effective until the stretch in the year that Wedge pitches him 19 straight days.

I am pretty sure I remember Oldberto pitching the 8th in eash game of the White Sox series. I could be wrong.

I have a more humane solution. I'm going to eat a couple of cans of baked beans, enlarge a picture of Eric Wedge, and do what comes naturally on top of his face when the beans have their way with me.

It is time for Wedge to go.
He should not even leave the plane in Tampa. Let the team off then fly back to Cleveland so he can go home.
Showalter should be on his way to Tampa for the weekend series.
