Indians Players Attitudes

Unread postby njdaffy » Wed Apr 18, 2007 8:14 pm

I have been a Cleveland Indians fan for some time, I get to see them only when they come to New York to play. One thing I really don't understand is the attitudes of some players. Take yesterdays game(Indians/Yankees) , It was me and one other Indians fan watching the BP of the Indians, we asked for a autograph and some of the players were real nice and gave us them. But to my surprise one player Victor Martinez was the biggest jerk of the night. He over heard me and a friend talking about the players on the DL list. When he heard his name, he looked right at me and said " you wrong, you wrong". Clearly I wasn't wrong, for the fact he went 0-4. Kelly Shoppach is a better player and a nicer person too. The only hightlight of last night game is that C.C. Sabathia not only signed my jersey, but he gave me his gloves too. Always a Indians fan, no longer a Martinez fan.

I'm sorry, but I agree with Victor. I don't find what he said being jerkish (bad verb usage I'm sorry). But you were wrong. :? :-? :???: He was not on the DL. He was never placed on the DL, just listed as day to day. His injury wasn't bad enough to put him on the DL. I'm sorry, but I don't think correcting you was rude. I would like to see you come back from an injury and have your game go swimingly. He was probably just protecting his muscles so he didn't pull it or make it worse. Kelly proved that he can take over when Vic needs a day off, but you can't dismiss Martinez's bat. What other signatures did you get. What players were nice. Just wonderin :P :-P

Now, while Vic may have been a bitchy, Shoppach is nowhere near the better player.

I can see why saying something negative to a fan would be rude, but Shoppach is no where near the hitter Vic is. Not even close.

Nicer players for the game was: Blake,Hafner,Peralta,Sizemore,Garko,Skinner,Wedge. Thanks for your replys. But i would take Kelly anyday over Victor. Everyone has all different opinions.

When I was a little kid, Luis Isaacs was a total dick to my brother and me. To this day, whenever they show him on tv or we see him at the Jake, we repeat what he said to us.

"How am I supposed to give you an autograph then?"

Taken out of context, I admit it's not so bad. But adding in his tone, and seeing it as a 7 year old, I couldn't believe how much of a jerk that guy was.

I hate Bob Feller for a similar reason.
I was probably 14 or so at the time and was at a card show.
Some kid probably 8 asked him for an autograph and Feller told him to come back at 1 and it was $20

Plus, Fight, you've got the guy talking down to everyone AND explaining how EVERYTHING and EVERYONE was better in his day. "How bout that young kid Verlander Mr. Feller, he can really bring it." "In my day there were six guys on each team with a livlier arm than that kid. I reckon I throw threw the ball at least 10 miles an hour faster in my prime and could probably outpitch him today......" Blah Blah. The statue at the Jake is annoying.

I still can't see how all of you see Vic as being rude. I don't see how correcting a fan, for being mistaken is wrong. Victor Martinez might have gone 0 for 4, but how does that mean he was on the DL. As far as I know, he was just listed as day to day, never on the DL. Why should we be scared to correct someone when they are wrong. Why should Victor have just held his tongue, smiled, and signed an autograph, when he knew that you were wrong. I don't see Victor at fault here at all. I don't know what yall are talkin about :? :-? :???:

I've never met Feller, but he has a rep as being a real SOB from accounts I've heard from several people.
