Watching Jake tonight was painful...

Unread postby Charboneau » Tue Apr 17, 2007 8:16 pm

I had been looking forward to this game all day. Good news is that it's still early. Bad news is we're down 7. Man Jake looked terrible tonight.

Yes, very poor performance by Jake. You know he will turn it around sooner or later; but lets hope we will never see this again!

Still some hope since our offense hasn't got that big hit in about a week!

edit to add: And as I say that:
HOME RUN TRAVIS HAFNER.
BOY IS IT KEY TO GET HIM BACK INTO A GROOVE!

It's too bad, too, since there's a good chance (after watching Marte drive in Blake for third run) that the Tribe will score a few tonight. If only Westbrook had kept it down to say, 5 or 6 runs, I'd still feel good about our chances.

I hate to say it but I felt a little let down when we only got one in the first and then let them off the hook in the second. if we can hold here in the sixth - we have three innings to make up 5 runs. Not out of the question. Let's go Tribe.

Bottom line; our offense has been subpar ever since the first game in Milwaukee. We can't get the big hit with RISP. And our defense is atrocious! That is all I can say about that.

Just a bad, bad night all around. That might have been the worst performance by Jake ever. And, the situational hitting is mind-boggling right now. First two innings, we get the two leadoff guys on....then go down 1-2-3 each time. After the second inning we were 0 for 6 with RISP. Off a guy fresh out of Single-A. Crimeney.

We had the NYY kid from AA on the ropes early, just could not put him away.
After a 6-3 start, we were due to stink.

Big picture, compare this April to the last few and I don't mind getting spanked by NY too much.

Plus, the bullpen looked pretty good and Travis might be warming up.

Here is how I view it:

-We can still win the series.
-This is still April.
-Bullpen is pitching very well over the last 2.5 series.
-Just 1 base hit in the 1st-2nd inning; today's game could've gone either way. Until our offense heats up, we will rely heavily on pitching.

Take it one game at a time; and one series at a time. Since we lost today, we can't look to sweep; but we must look to win the next 2 games to go 8-4 on the year.

The timing on offense looks off. That's what happens with five days off in the first two weeks.
