The way I kind of look at contracts like this is as follows:

Does the contract make the player more tradeable or less? I am not implying that the Indians will/would trade him, but I think we can universally agree that the terms of the deal clearly make him more tradeable. Therefore, regardless of whether the Indians cash in on this "equity" with a trade or not, the bottom line is that they have improved the overall value of their team.

I am impressed with the Dolan's resigning Jake, and I am unworried about the Dolan's resigning CC. If CC finally puts together a dominating couple of seasons, then the Indians will be unable to resign him anyway at (18-20 million per year). If he does not put together a real "ace" year, then he will be too expensive for what he is really worth.

I personally, don't care if the Indians resign him. I think he is a great pitcher, but still is just short of ace. Will he ever be a true Ace? I am not sure, but based on his "conditioning" and other aspects, I am unsure, but he does have "ace stuff." Personally, I think he will be a career underachiever (which will still be pretty impressive).
Coming from a Wolverine, we're the football equivalent of a formerly abused wife of a meth addict who just remarried the safe nice guy. We're just glad we have someone who's aware that it's a rivalry and that tackling on defense is integral. Baby steps.

Was it that obvious?

Listen, let this guy stay healthy for one full season and then I'll start to think about mortgaging the future for him.

Last year is the only year he failed to make 30 starts, when he missed the first month with an injury that has nothing to do with being fat.

Saying CC is fat is the fans way of dealing with seing him in a Yankee/Angel uniform is 2009.

It is like saying Manny is dumb. Well no shit, but there aren't too many people better at what they do.

Like Thomes back

Not really. They had medical evidence that his back was in shambles and destined to be a problem, which it has each of the last few years.

Well, he's still producing and that criteria is how our bullpen is built.

You know, I was going to mention this last week but totally forgot....

But, the ONE downside I have to this deal is we no longer have Jake pitching in a FA year. Guys almost always come up huge in FA years.
