Kind of out of the blue, but does anyone have any thoughts about the Indians possibly making trade for Coco like after this year? It would make sense, he is not hitting so well in Boston and I'm sure the Tribe would like to use him for left field to eliminate one of the platooning situations. He's a fan favorite...any thoughts?

I can't say I'd object to getting him cheaply, but he's a pretty ordinary guy. I'd obviously prefer one of the in-house options making this a no-brainer "No," but there are worse left fielders out there (Langerhans, Tyner, Cruz, etc.).

I'd be more interested in getting a Tampa Bay outfielder, though.

Why would they want him back when the system is bursting at the seams with quality outfielders? By the end of this season, the Indians could very well have any combination of the likes of Shin-Soo Choo, Ben Francisco, Franklin Gutierrez, Ryan Goleski, Trevor Crowe, Brad Snyder and Brian Barton ready to contribute in the major leagues in 2008.

Personally, I am not a fan of Gutierrez and I'm starting to lose interest in Snyder......but barring a stepback or injuries, any of GOleski, Barton, Crowe, B-Fran and Choo should be ready by years end. And, Crowe is really a Crisp clone, but with more plate discipline.

I agree with everything you guys said. I just wish we had that 1-2 punch of Grady and Coco, or something like it at least. Any thoughts on trading Jason Michaels anywhere throughout the season, too?

I still think trading Coco hurt this team in '06. They were either nieve (sp?) or over confident to think losing your #1 (Milwood) and lead-off hitter wouldnt hurt them. Im sure stats may make it close, but those were 2 solid clubhouse guys IMO.

If you are having trouble filling Coco Crisp's shoes you aren't close to winning anyway. Leadoff guy that didn't walk much, fast but a poor baserunners, poor centerfielder, among the worst arms in the game. He HAS to hit .300 to be decent, especially as a left fielder.

Attended last night's RS game. Coco was positively awful at the plate. He's also now the target of all available Sox Fan abuse. (Especially since J.D. Drew has won the crowd, until the inevitable injury.)

Seriously, his numbers are Boonesque: .121/.171/.182. Struck out 8 times in 33 ABs. And he's looked seriously overmatched in the process.

They also have an heir apparent in Jacoby Ellsbury.

Coco Crisp's current trade value is approaching negative. You could get him, but at this point I'm not sure you'd even want to if you could.

(Noted, that Andy Marte has as yet done little to redeem himself...and neither, for that matter, has Kevin Kouzmanoff in San Diego.)

A package involving Chuck "Nils" Lofgren could get us Baldelli... maybe. If we threw in Clarence Clemons and Max Weinberg we might get a guaranteed deal.

Seriously, we'd have to give up Lofgren in all likelihood and they'd probably like a bully arm that reliable - maybe Betancourt. Even then they still would be hesitant. Those outfielders and Kazmir are their best sellable assets. They've moved Upton to 2B, have got Baldelli and Dukes splitting time at DH and CF, Crawford in LF, Young in RF, Iwamura at 3B, and Wigginton at 1B. Right now they really need all of them and are giving ABs to them all. It might take two top flight pitching prospects to get at any of them.
