You had to figure once Adam Miller was sent down, Carmona would implode. Amazing.
Granted only ST, but this is NOT the kind of start you want to see after you send down the phenom the day before. Bottom of the 2nd, and Carmona has given up 4 runs on FIVE doubles and 2 singles and everytyhing has been crushed. If the wind was not blowing in 20 MPH two balls that were caught on sensational plays by B-Fran and Nixon over the shoulder at the wall would have been 450 foot bombs according to Hammy.
What I hope, is if Carmona struggles early this year, that Shapiro and company are not afraid to yank him. If he is struggling after 5-6 starts, he needs to go to Buffalo and it is Miller Time. And hell, if he does stuggle, they should seriously consider Carmona in the setup role again. He is a dominating pitcher, and was brilliant in the role last year. With how much setup men cost, and how deep they are in the system with starters, I don't see why they don't try to keep him in this role if he fails as a starter this year.
