So he could end up on the DL again?

I'll take him any day over Michaels, Dellucci together!

ESPN, December 6, 2006:
The 31-year-old Drew has had injuries throughout his career, but he played in 146 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season and hit .283 with 20 homers and a team-high 100 RBIs.

Those sound like what they expect from Delucci. When playing in a career high 146 games is newsworthy, I'll take a pass.

Are the plans to play Dellucci full-time or platoon with Michaels?

If he's platooning, then he will never hit 20 hr/100 rbi.

I think he will get about 75% of the AB's in left field. That will be around 435 AB's. JD Drew has only reached that number of AB's twice in his career.

I am not advocating the signing of David Delucci, although I do think he is a better addition than JD Drew would be. You will get roughly the same number of AB (Drew because of DL time and Delucci from "platooning"). With equal AB's Delucci will put up stats close enough to Drew to save the $9,000,000. If you are going to give Drew $14,000,000 why wouldn't you just give Carlos Lee $16,000,000?

Well if Pup agrees with me then one of us must be wrong (lol).

I have no doubt if both were healthy and productive JD Drew is by far the better player - however in comparing contracts which is the better deal for the Indians? Its not Drew.
