this is for any sketchy rumours you may have heard or anything you hear on the radio or on a blog site

speaking of which the Indians could sign Browski sometime next weekend when the deadline for teams to offer their players arbitration ends

they also have interest in Villone, Schowenweis and have asked the Angels about Shields (since they've signed Speier now)

Would it be too much to ask for some citation of these vague rumors? IE - "hey i read on the idiot center known as Cleveland Live" or an actual link to even a blog so the rest of us can read the same thing?

Not the case at all.

These days, any rumors posted on the internet spread like wildfire. And rumors with no basis just help fuel the fire for many of those in the mainstream media that like to poke fun at "internet rumors". In reality, almost all sports stories are broken on the internet, and many (if not most) so have basis and do come to fruition.

Love the Brits, love the rumors ... just try and provide a link or a source. And if it is truly just personal speculation, that's fine ... just label it as that.

MULDER

Unread postby British_Pharaoh » Sun Nov 26, 2006 1:34 pm

I said it during last season that we should go get mark mulder in a Millwood type deal ($7m only this time add an option year worth about $9m+)

and it looks like Shap is listening to me just like he did with byrd and Eduardo perez.

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/r ... it/?page=4

says we're in for Nixon too which seems odd given that we apparently signed Dellucci

The NL West is stepping up big-time for rehabbing lefty Mark Mulder. San Francisco, San Diego, Arizona, and Los Angeles have made pushes very recently. Texas officials flew into Arizona to meet with Mulder's agents, and the Indians are also hot after the lefty, who appears likely to depart St. Louis.

Scott Shoeneweis

The Indians have joined the Tigers and Red Sox, among others, in showing interest in Scott Schoeneweis.

They're also looking at Ron Villone, Danys Baez and Joe Borowski as they attempt to improve their pen. Ideally, they'd like to land a closer.
Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer

Trot Nixon-OF

The Boston Globe expects the Phillies, Orioles, Indians and A's to inquire about free agent Trot Nixon.

Now that the heavier hitters are out of the way, perhaps we'll see some action on Nixon and David Dellucci. The Red Sox haven't ruled out bringing Nixon back, but it seems pretty clear that they'd prefer to go in a different direction.
Source: Boston Globe

Mark Mulder

Rangers officials recently flew into Arizona to meet with Mark Mulder's agents.

The Rangers, Giants, Diamondbacks, Padres, Dodgers, Indians, Mets, Rays and Orioles are all trying to lure Mulder away from St. Louis, even though he probably won't be ready to pitch in April and there's no guarantee that he'll ever again be a top-of-the-rotation guy. He could pick a team soon.

Westbrook is on the block. so it makes sense that if the Indians do indeed trade him, that they are looking at alternatives (Mulder).

Oh, and please....no Delucci or Trot Nixon. :x

To Cleveland:

apaprently cleveland asked for Howry, Eyre and cedeno for JW (quite cheekily)

Cubs countered with Dempster instead of Howry

This just on the wire from ESPN: "The Philadelphia Phillies backed away from a multiyear agreement with free-agent reliever Joe Borowski because of concerns over Borowski's shoulder after the pitcher took a physical."

Shapiro is sure to sign him now. Maybe the Tribe will catch "lightning in a bottle". :roll

Why not?

I've seen the Indians name linked with Borowski and Gagne both...

get both of them on one year incentive laden contracts with a mutual option for a second year and see what happens

Cliff Floyd

Free agent Cliff Floyd told the Post yesterday that several teams have called regarding his services, including Baltimore, Seattle, Cleveland and Oakland, though the clubs are awaiting a medical update on Floyd, who had offseason surgery on his left Achilles'.

Dwags said Indians asked about Hanley Ramirez and the fish didnt say no

they're looking for a CFer and have inquired about Franky

maybe any possible straight up trade for Franky didnt interest the tribe and maybe they will attempt to package some top prospects for Hanley

having Ramirez would make trading Crowe easier since Ramirez a lot like Crowe only with more power and more K's and Hanley would end up as our leadoff hitter (i would imagine) he also has terrific range and we could trade JP to the Blue jays(who are very interested in him) for Johnny Mac and Brandon League

LOL! The Marlins are not trading Hanley Ramirez. Or if they are they are going to ask for gobs of young talent in return. The Marlins have no reason to trade a player still making the minimum, who they control for another 5 years yet, and who almost won rookie of the year....

Just wonder if someone slipped "Dwags" a bogus rumor just to see where it would show up.

What do the Marlins need that the Indians actually have to offer?

a CFer (they want Franky G) pitching (they love any of our cheap pitching prospects)

a LFer with power Goleski, Mulhern(it is the marlins after all)

a young catcher better than(or will be better than) Olivo (Shoppach, Toregas, Maximiliano

did i say that?

trying to look at it from the Marlins perspective (you do know it takes two teams to make a trade, right?)

what do we have that would make the Marlins want to give up Hanley Ramirez in return

if i were the Marlins i would ask for Jhonny Peralta or Andy Marte, Franklin Gutierrez and Jeremy Sowers, Adam Miller or Fausto Carmona

any cheap pitching prospect not named Miller or Carmona just gets a polite "thanks but no thanks" from the Florida GM...

Yes, former Twin Luis Rivas.

As an NRI, I have no problem with it.

Indians also now supposedly looking at Aubrey Huff.

There is only one way Aubrey Huff makes sense.

Put him at first against righties - with Martinez catching - and then against lefties move Martinez to first and let Shoppach catch.

Means either Garko or Hafner are eventually traded.

And Blake ends up splitting his time between RF and 3b.

But if the idea to get Huff is that he can "play" RF, 3b and 1b - well Blake already does those, and does those much better.
