Not the case at all.

These days, any rumors posted on the internet spread like wildfire. And rumors with no basis just help fuel the fire for many of those in the mainstream media that like to poke fun at "internet rumors". In reality, almost all sports stories are broken on the internet, and many (if not most) so have basis and do come to fruition.

Love the Brits, love the rumors ... just try and provide a link or a source. And if it is truly just personal speculation, that's fine ... just label it as that.

Texas officials flew into Arizona to meet with Mulder's agents, and the Indians are also hot after the lefty, who appears likely to depart St. Louis.

They're also looking at Ron Villone, Danys Baez and Joe Borowski as they attempt to improve their pen. Ideally, they'd like to land a closer.

The Boston Globe expects the Phillies, Orioles, Indians and A's to inquire about free agent Trot Nixon.

Now that the heavier hitters are out of the way, perhaps we'll see some action on Nixon and David Dellucci. The Red Sox haven't ruled out bringing Nixon back, but it seems pretty clear that they'd prefer to go in a different direction.

Mark Mulder

Rangers officials recently flew into Arizona to meet with Mark Mulder's agents.

The Rangers, Giants, Diamondbacks, Padres, Dodgers, Indians, Mets, Rays and Orioles are all trying to lure Mulder away from St. Louis, even though he probably won't be ready to pitch in April and there's no guarantee that he'll ever again be a top-of-the-rotation guy. He could pick a team soon.

There is only one way Aubrey Huff makes sense.

Put him at first against righties - with Martinez catching - and then against lefties move Martinez to first and let Shoppach catch.

Means either Garko or Hafner are eventually traded.

And Blake ends up splitting his time between RF and 3b.

But if the idea to get Huff is that he can "play" RF, 3b and 1b - well Blake already does those, and does those much better.
