A number of teams were courting Catalanotto, who said he believed he would end up in Cleveland. But Catalanotto requested that his agent call the other suitors one last time, and he and the Rangers were able to strike a deal. "It [Texas] was more attractive because I've been here before," Catalanotto said. "I knew the situation.... Money being equal, I'd rather be here."

The Rangers reaction? Within three days of Thomas' decision to go to Toronto, they had horned in on Cleveland's talks with Frank Catalanotto and had a three-year, $13 million deal in place.
This one came out of nowhere. Didn't realize the Indians were interested.
Ho hum. Yet another FA that turns us down. Alou and Catalanotto.....and the Sheffield deal being nixed because of the Padres. Shapiro and Co just can't close these deals. Very concerning.
