Indians the favorites to sign Joe-Bo?

Borowski, who finished third in the National League with a career-high 36 saves last season, is being courted by at least a half-dozen teams, including Cleveland and Baltimore. The Indians are believed to be among the favorites to sign the 35-year-old right-hander, in part because Borowski's agent, Ron Shapiro, is the father of Cleveland general manager Mark Shapiro.

BYE JOE-BO?

The market for former Marlins closer Joe Borowski is heating up. The Indians and Giants have joined the Blue Jays and Red Sox among teams interested in signing the veteran right-hander.

Jo-Bo would be somewhat of a risk, as he has an injury history in '04 and '05, and he pitched in a pitcher's park in Miami. Borowski had a 3.07 ERA at home, 4.71 on the road.

But he might be the best of a slim crop of experienced closers available. Will be interesting to see if Larry Dolan steps up to the plate and puts his wallet where his mouth is. I have little confidence that he will.

Shapiro made a good move with the Barfield trade. Now he has to fix the bullpen.

I'm neutral on Borowski. I like him as a Howry-type to use as a setup/closer. But, not as your full-fledged closer. IF they sign Borowski, they better bring in a backup plan.

If they were to sign Borowski, Speier, and Stanton I would be elated.
