Carrasco Moved to Bullpen

Not surprising.

McAllister will go on short rest on Wednesday and then the Tribe won't need a 5th Starter until next Tuesday at which point Bauer (favourite) or Tomlin will get the call.

Dude is a stool sample. It is a joke we traded Cliff Lee for him, Knapp, Donald and Marson.

Sure it's disappointing but the end result may be a lights out BP guy. Hitter's were helpless against him in the pen last year.

Tomlin making his case to be the guy to get the call last night: - 9IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 10K in just 89 pitches!!

10Ks and still averaged less than 10 pitches per inning?! That's ridiculous!

He's got a 2.06ERA over 5 AAA starts now. Meanwhile Bauer's at 1.40 in 4 AAA starts.

If I need a guy I'm bringing Tomlin before Bauer at this point.

I want a guy whose been successful in this league and who's a bit more mature.

No offense to Bauer, but he's behind Tomlin in my line and it's not really close. Tomlin is well past the surgery and past the point of recovering physically and mentally from that.

Give the guy the ball up here and let guys like Salazar and Carrasco watch a dude compete each time through the lineup and with far lesser stuff than those two guys take to the mound.

That makes some sense, but give me the guy who misses more bats over the guy who pitches to contact with this defense behind him.

What's the story on Bauer? Listening to coaching? Throwing up in the zone still?
Is he dominating without changing an approach that's proven not to work in the AL? Are the coaches happy with him.

You keep hearing reports on his numbers, but I never hear hints at what the org is thinking about him.

Disappointing on Carrasco. Was throwing well as a starter before his injury. I guess his problems are overthrowing when in trouble, and difficulty working from the stretch? So why would he be any better as a reliever?

Going solely on the evidence of his one ML start he seemed to have made some adjustments - working down in the zone and not switching from the 3B to 1B side of the rubber depending on whether the hitter was LH or RH being two glaring points from that game.

That's just my take from a 6 inning sample though so, who knows.

Velocity seemed up a tick too!

This is from mid April. Backs up your comments. Pitching down, and when up it seems to be away enough. Dialing it up to 96, out of the stretch.

Tomlin announced as the starter for Tuesday.

It's his scheduled day to pitch and the line coming from the Indians brass is they just wanted to keep everyone on there regular turn, plus Tomlin deserved a shot.

Bauer didn't sulk down in AAA tonight: - 7IP, 6H, 0R, 2BB, 3K

Had the bases loaded with no one out in the 7th but, got out of it with a K and a DP ball.

ERA down to 1.10

Maybe the kid grew up a little in the off-season. Would be good.

I hope so. Problem is his stuff/plan/ whatever you want to call it has always played well in the minors. Im glad he isnt getting lit up down their but im also taking his success with a grain if salt.

Don't know if you heard Hammy's comment during the game tonight, but Tomlin said that Bauer deserved to move up to MLB. Either he was being very polite and PC, or the kid did learn a thing or two.

Bauer great again last night: - 7.2IP, 3H, 1R/ER, 2BB, 9K

In 6 starts down in AAA now - 40.1IP, 27H, 1HRA, 11BB, 40K, 1.12ERA

Keeping the pressure on Salazar.

Salazar still has options left, right? IIRC that's why Carrasco was moved to the bullpen since he had none left and Salazar could be sent down if needed.

Yep, Salazar has an option remaining.
