Who Do You Want To Play In The Playoffs?

Unread postby swerb » Tue Mar 21, 2006 2:56 pm

Current Standings ...

4. Cavaliers 38-29
5. Wizards 34-31
6. Pacers 33-31
7. Bucks 33-33
8. Sixers 31-35

This a tough call for me. The Wizards and the Pacers are the two most likely 5 seed options, assuming the Cavs hang on to the 4 seed.

We match up better against the Pacers, but Jermaine O'Neal coming back and Rick Carlisle both worry me. As does Indiana's playoff experience.

Wizards are a tough matchup for us, as we have no one that can keep up with Arenas. Also, the Wiz got their first taste of the playoffs last season, beating the Bulls four straight in the 1st rd after falling down 2-0 in the series.

Bucks are still an option, but a longshot to surpass both the teams in front of them with just 15 games left.

Give me the Pacers. The lack of a quality PG helps the Cavs, and Z should be able to dominate Jeff Foster and David Harrison.

O'Neal should be back for them. He's ahead of schedule, and may even be ready for their last couple reg season games.

Even with him, we've had good success against them though. Especially since Artest went insane.

Cavs will face the pacers (one will be 4 the other 5), but I am hoping for a late season rally from the Bucks.

If anyone wants to take a stab at a column briefly breaking down the Cavs potential 1st round matchups (Pacers, Wizards, Bucks) ... I'd love to run it front page.

If I don't hear from anyone, I'll likely write it next week.

Wizards a game and a half up on Milwaukee, 2 games up on Indiana with 12 to play.

Go Milwaukee.

IMO, Eddie Jordan and Rick Carslisle are two of the best coaches in basketball. Arenas scares the shit out of me, as does the Cavs history of struggles with the Wiz since Arenas was reincarnated as AI.

Jermaine O'Neal back in the fold with Indiana now. That teams got alot of experience, is well coached, and their game translates well to the physical, slow it down nature of the playoffs. And they got themselves a sniper in Peja now.

Should be interesting ... Cavs gonna have their hands full regardless.

Wizards 1.5 games up on the Bucks, three up on the Pacers. Both Washington and Milwaukee have very tough schedules left, and play each other twice ... so really ... anything can happen.

Big games tonight for both teams. The Wiz is at Boston, the Bucks at Orlando.

What a tank job by the Wizards, losers of 5 straigtht after seemingly having the 5 seed and 1st rd matchup with the Cavs locked up. I had a "Breaking Down The Wiazrds" column about 60% complete that I have set aside for now.

As it presently stands ...

5. Indiana 39-40
6. Milwaukee 39-40
7. Washington 39-40
8. Chicago 38-41

9. Philadelphia 37-42
10. Orlando 35-44

Geeze...at this point, we could play any of the four teams 5-8 right now. I don't know why, but I don't want to play Chicago.

I have the same gut feeling.

In order of preference to play ....

1. Bucks
2. Wizards
3. Bulls
4. Pacers

I don't think Philly can get the 5 spot.

for me I prefer to play them in this order:

1.) Bucks
2.) Bulls
3.) Wizards
4.) Pacers

I think there is a pretty decent shot that if they face the wizards or pacers that they will not escape the first round. No particular reason, just gut feeling.
