It'd be nice if it did mean something, especially if we could get more than a rack of worn out basketballs for him.

I don't think he's untradeable mainly because his contract is now shorter than some others out there. For instance, his deal is a year shorter than Earl Watson's in Seattle and the Cavs can pay a portion of his salary, saving a team a couple million bucks in the pocketbook as well. That could mean something to a Seattle team that is unsure of where they'll be in the future (Oklahoma City?).

He's now only got two years left. At worst, he's here another year. His salary right now is high, but he can provide quick cap relief against a longer term deal.

Look at Pau Gasol as an example. He's signed through 2011 - two years after Snow's contract would expire. Snow's salary could be a piece in a deal there and there are other examples.

It'd be one thing if he still had four or five years left. He's worth more now than he was at the beginning of last season because his deal promises greater flexibility sooner.

The NBA is not all about the play you get. Austin Croshere made $7.3M this past year and was picked up solely because he was an ending contract. That gave the Mavs cap relief two years early.

Snow is a prime candidate to be included in a trade where a team wants to unload salary.

We've got a lot of guys who only have two seasons left coupled with Newble and Wesley with only one season left. Those relatively short term deals mean more than the talent because NBA teams crave cap flexibility.

As I've said before, I could see an Earl Watson for Eric Snow straight swap with Seattle. They might be slightly under in Snow's last year, but his deal is a year shorter than Watson's. Snow would save them $6.6M in cap space that year, giving them the ability to spend and get supplemental guys around Durant, Allen, Ridnour prior to Allen's contract expiring the next year.

The NBA is not about the play you get? This is true only in poor circumstances that you've put yourself in. Furls is correct. Snow's contract is horrible in terms of value. Big money for a horrible player forces you to jump thru hoops to deal him for another bad player and another bad contract AT BEST.

What you get with value like this is; A. Not helping the team by being forced to keep him or B. Not helping the team by making a deal. The common situation with both is, well, not helping the team.
