Cavs shopping Waiters

14 games in and Mike Brown has zero control over another locker room. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I heard that. Also, the Knicks/Sixers/Bulls are complete morons if they give us Shumpert, Turner, or Deng for him. I suppose the Knicks could be that dumb, that would be a great save of a shaky draft pick.

Ugh, this could be a core of Valanciunas/Thompson, Barnes/Drummond(or MKG/Beal if they were willing to write a check), Oladipo and Kyrie plus our veterans. What a hatchet job of some plum picks, even in down years for the draft.

In regards to talent, the back lash on Waiters is overblown, the guy has some talent. He could display more of it IMO with a better offensive mind at the helm. Yeah if he's a locker room cancer you have to consider moving him, but if he is, other teams are going to know to some extent, and if they're willing to cough up some talent in exchange for him it has to make you wonder just how good others feel his potential is?

I mean Waiters did make the NBA first rookie team, it's not the biggest deal in the world, but it does mean most other coaches saw something in him.

He'd be the perfect Knick.

He and JR Smith could pal around - if they've got any time in between missed shots.

Again, guy will probably score the ball - whie shooting a low percentage and pretty much not help the team in any other way. Type of guy that despite being able to score the ball, will wind up on about 7 teams in his career - all of them bad.

You guys gotta cut someone a break.

Four picks in the top 4 of the draft and they yield Kyrie, Tristan, Waiters & Bennett.

One of them was bound to be a bust.

Be thankful for those other three!!

Fair point, under normal circumstances I'd expect one bust. But two of them were #1 overall, my dog could have made the Kyrie pick, and all of the alternate ones I mentioned were obvious at the time. That was Grant's prerogative to go off the board, but I think it's right to hammer him when the easy alternatives of Barnes (or MKG/Beal if they were willing to pony up some cash) and Oladipo are considerably better. Thompson turned out to be solid, I'll keep him out of the discussion.

Yeah but all the alternative picks were not slam dunk consensus BPAs, nor are all the alternatives hands down better right now, after the fact. Bennett is the only one you can honestly even think about calling a bust and it's probably still too early, although admittedly he should not look this bad. If he was playing his natural position every night I'd be more concerned.

This implies that he actually has a natural position. Dude was a tweener before he was drafted, he's a tweener now. But, I mean, any time you can take a guy with the top pick who's fat, hurt, and doesn't have a position, you gotta do it.
