Bennett and Andy ok for camp

Unread postby JJN » Thu Sep 19, 2013 6:47 pm

Just like the title says. Andy and Bennett have both been cleared for training camp and we are 2 1/2 weeks from the first preseason game.

Anything is better than the Browns.

IF both of these guys are healthy they could be a very very very good team. That is a big IF.

That's good, because Bynum is not expected to contribute until December or even January, according to the B-J's Jason Lloyd.

Haven't really heard anything good or bad about how Tony Bennett has looked in preseason - except maybe that he needs to get in shape. What is the word around Cleveland?

Judging by what I've seen in pre-season, Bennett shows flashes of brilliance, but is very rookie-inconsistent. There are times when he's on the court and not really contributing anything, and then times when he gets hot and knocks down some 15- to 22-foot jumpers. He hasn't shown too much offense from the low post. I haven't really noticed how his one-on-one defense is, but he appears to be understand Roker's team defense concepts. A.C. has observed that Bennett is still not in game shape; ergo, he still needs to lose some weight.

Bottom line: He shows promise, but with Andy and TT playing so well, he's destined to play with the second unit for a while yet.

I don't care how talented you are or if you're dinged up some physically. How do you show up to your rookie NBA camp out of shape?

How does that possibly happen when you have three months from draft day to remove the ice cream from the freezer and get on the treadmill.

I'll never understand how that happens.

The Cavs' official company line is that Bennett was recovering from shoulder/rotator cuff surgery during the off-season. Admittedly, though, that doesn't completely wash. You can still do roadwork or the treadmill and "remove the ice cream from the freezer." Your point is valid.

So should we start a pool to see who can come the closest to guessing the day and month on which Anthony Bennett converts his first NBA field goal?

I was just gonna post this on the game thread! Glad I looked at this. I'm gonna say his 18th NBA field goal attempt will go in!

Seeing the opening weekend of college ball and the frosh made me throw up in my mouth thinking about Bennett.

How long until a legit bust watch starts?

Game 50 at least.

Would help if they let him play where he's more comfortable, and told him he's not Jesus Fuckin Shuttlesworth.
