Coach Luke

Unread postby swerb » Fri May 18, 2007 8:11 am

One of my favorite quotes of all-time, just saw it pop up on the first page for the first time in a while.

Pup's boy Coach Luke ....

"I put Phil Jackson's name up there, along with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. I told them, 'You guys probably want Phil Jackson. I want these guys. What we have is each other.'"

Former Cavs coach John Lucas, on what he wrote on the blackboard before the teams first practice

Sometimes, after losses like Wednesday night's ... you just gotta put things in perspective.

Paxson, Lucas, Smart, Diop, Landgon, Mihms, Milt Palacio, Bimbo Coles, Yogi Stewart.

That was just four years ago.

And to think I manufactured the necessary enthusiasm annually to believe this lot could win 45 games and the 4 seed ... (cache)

Things have come a long way. Lets finish this thing tonight Cavs.

Hey, four years ago we also had Ricky Davis and Z. Davis almost had a triple-double in one game that year...

And don't forget Andre Miller. I'd love to have him now...

So you're a closet optimist, Rich?

True dat.

I also wouldn't mind having the current, harder working version of Chris Mihm back behind Z. I'm quite interested in pursuing him in free agency.

To Lucas' credit, he was able to hornswaggle enough incredibly stupid NBA teams to keep him emplyed for several years. You would think after three or four years of not having an inbound play someone would figure it out. Than the Cavs follow up with Silas.....

I always think of Kenny Rhoda's Lucas impression when the name comes up. Good times.
