If you believe it and try as hard as you can to accomplish it and fail, there is no dishonor in that.

This is akin to being drunk at a bar and telling some guy twice your size that you're going to kick his ass.

It might be beer balls talking, but you believe it when you say it. And you don't regret it the next day. Even after you wake up in the ER, you know that you totally intended on kicking that guy's ass, and only your intoxication prevented you from doing so.

If the Cavs start winning next year, sans LeBron, or TMLP makes some moves to boost legitimacy, they WILL have a following. Especially if they beat the Heat (preferably in a playoff series). It will be more about the TEAM then a player, and that's something that could be interesting.

Sadly, how I looked like that in the photo is completely manufactured. Nothing but a Special FX test case.

The media are going to blow this way out of proportion, but it's about one thing and one thing only: Showing Dan Gilbert's commitment to the franchise in its time of need. He's too smart of a businessman to play this off like it's no big deal. The guy embarrassed the entire sport of basketball with this charade and made a mockery out of the people of Cleveland. You can debate that point if you want, but that's what a majority of the people of Northeast Ohio and Akron area think. They were led down a path, lined the man's pockets, and then got left with nothing but a story of having seen LBJ play here.

Gilbert's enraged. And the LBJ quitting thing goes too far because it almost crosses that Mark Cuban-esque line between the game and the owners.

But, for tonight, it's what the fan base needed to hear. Gilbert will probably retract over the next few days and calm down and get off the ledge...at the same time, so will the fan base.

It's a brilliant PR move to the casual fan who only started caring about Cavs basketball when LBJ got here. It's an attempt to keep them around long enough for Gilbert to build another winning team.

Professional? Not in the slightest. But, it will achieve what it is designed to do.
