The game is not completely blown. Just the ball coach needs to use his timeouts in a better fashion. Letting the Blazers go on a roll from easing a deficit from 10+ then to 7 and continually downward is not good coaching/decision making. Roy though is the real deal...

He did have his moments, but wtf was he in the game for the entire crunch time? 2 plays jumped out at me:

1. LeBron tossed him a pass for a wide open 3. Went right off his hands and out of bounds Gooden-style.

2. Next possession, after a screen and defensive switch, Jawad got completely lost on the court. He had no idea where he was supposed to be until Mo actually shoved him with both hands towards his wide open man on the perimeter.

I understand his length may be necessary with Jamario out, but I felt like MB was playing with fire testing that lineup out in that situation - tight game, roaring road crowd. Hollinger points out that the frontcourt trio of Varejao, LeBron, Jawad had only been used for 5 possessions all year - was this really the time to try it out?

Guy tore up the D-League, earned a shot and worked his way into a role. I honestly don't understand what there is to object to.

And his +/- last night was awesome. He played solid and Brown decided his length and D was better than Parkers at said moment.

Again, no trade he is your stretch 4. Get used to seeing him getting minutes. It's better to watch than Hickson.

Coming off the Denver game, where it was the LeBron on five shoot-around, I was hoping for the team to start playing team-ball again on offense. Vs. Portland, it looked to me that the Cavs we're playing "Let's see how many ways we can LeBron the ball within the flow of the offense" game. A game I love to watch.

I hope this strategy sticks game in and game out. Getting the ball to James on the move is lethal- and the only way this team can win it all, IMO. Here's hoping...

And Jawad Williams- is his PT anything more than a trade showcase? Sure, he's earned minutes and fills a role, but c'mon- he's on the tradesheets with other teams wondering "Can this guy play?"

In fairness this happens to every single teammate of Lebron at least a couple times when they start playing with him on a regular basis. Hard to understate how hard and how well disguised his passes can be and the 'be ready for a pass at all times' mantra never rings more true than when Bronbron has the ball.

In fact, Kemp had his lone good season as a Cav (19 and 9 in '97-98) in the last year the team wore the splash unis.

Doesn't make them any less ugly, but those unis did see the Cavs to the playoffs three times.

The Kemp led rookie squad had that one enjoyable playoff series against the Pacers. In shape Kemp was a monster in that series, and him not getting hella fat and Z breaking could have made that a decent team to watch, as opposed to the abomination it became.
