Sam Smith is one of the great Kool-Aid servers in the large-market media. He's like a Chicago version of Peter Vescey, always writing these amazing "Elvis Lives!" basketball rumors that have about a .00000001 percent chance of actually happening.
Anyone who thinks the Cavs would be well-served by bringing in a 41-year-old Scottie Pippen to serve as LeBron's wingman is majorly chugging the sugary beverages.
What would Pippen be good for, about four minutes a night? And, given the Cavs' propensity for getting caught with their pants down on defensive rotations (think Andy Varejao on Steve Nash), can you imagine how bad a creaky-kneed Pippen would look trying to guard, say, Dwyane Wade?
And how long would it take for Pippen to break down physically again? Given this morning's Keith Foulke retirement bombshell, I just don't think it's a good idea.
