Ilgauskas misses practice; could miss trip

10:20 a.m.

Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas might not travel with the Cavaliers for games against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday or the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.

The team said today that Ilgauskas would miss practice due to a personal matter. His status for the trip will be determined later. The Cavs did not release further details.

Ilgauskas is averaging 11.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

I heard it on WKNR, said it has nothing to do with a possible trade and is purely personal stuff.

Well, if the Cavs run like crazy, score 125 points per game and go 2-0 on this trip, it will certainly add fire to the "Cavs are a better team without Z" argument. Which I still don't buy.

We might get to see how Varejao plays with extended time at center next to Gooden. That will go a long way in determining the future of the center position in Cleveland. It may also force us to keep both Gooden and Varejao.

Don't forget about Pollard too. We'll see what a Varejao/Pollard combo does in the middle these next two nights.

I forgot about Pollard. I forgot how the hell a guy who's basically done nothing besides change hairstyles actually got hurt. The Cavs aren't nearly talented enough to acquire eccentrics. They need someone who can play. Or at least will play.

The Cavs could play an extended stretch without anyone on the roster, save Lebron, and you wouldn't really be able to tell the difference.

Now that someone else has already said something, I will offer my insight into Z. I was at Hillcrest Hospital on Monday in the Maternity ward and saw Z in the maternity ward, so the story about he and his wife losing their twins could definitely be true. If it is, my heart goes out to him and his family. I couldn't imagine losing a child let alone 2!!

Damn, I was all fired up to bring some Z smack than it all goes downhill as I scroll down. Best wishes and condolences to Z and his family.

On a side note, the Wild Thing has been great the last couple nights.

People love to use the Jordan Bulls Model with Lebron.....and I'm telling you, I see a lot of Rodman in Varejao minus the idiocy. Also, Gibson's game reminds me a helluva lot like BJ Armstrong.

Andy is a nice player, but Rodman could guard 4 positions on the floor at a defensive player of the year caliber.
