Yes the players had to play in the NBA, not exclusinvely, but at least at some point in their basketball career.

No college only or ABA only guys, sorry, hence the title NBA Great Draft. :cheers:

You've got a lot more of an argument than I had for the guy I was looking at. Although Coach K never coached a sanctioned NBA game, he has coached NBA rostered players. That's a tough call.

Coach K is fine in my book, again technically I said the players must have played in the NBA and made no mention of coaches. His Olympic tenure more than qualifies him to handle our format.

I have given jfiling way more time than he gave me the other night, so I am jumping him to take my coach. This guy cannot build a franchise, but he can put a contender over the top and with my depth and strength off the bench he is the perfect guy to lead the squad.

He of a .557 NBA winning percentage.

He who has lead 7 teams to the NBA playoffs.

He who is only coach ever to win both an NCAA title and an NBA title.

The guy is a winner and I in a one year run to a championship, there are few, if any better. The guy is a closer. You hire him to get you the title and that's what my squad is doing.

I am going to go and skip over Buckeye for the time being.

I had to think long and hard about this pick but I think I might have come to a conclusion on what appears to be a good roster. The last roster spot and my backup guard and he can help my team play some small ball.

I can't decide...the guy I want has a sub .500 record, so I can't justify it.

I'm doing research now and have some thoughts.

Knowing junior he won't be around tonight.

If aoxo shows up tonight I have some thoughts we can bounce back and fourth. This will be done by early afternoon tomorrow.

Already have a guard in mind, looking for a front court guy, contemplating need for a PG to backup Tiny instead of the guard I want and looking at coaches (stupid including coaches, IMO, but then again you do love Adelman).

IOW: trying to put together a cohesive team with someone else's pieces.

That said, I think I could very realistically easily end up with the highest points, rebounds and assists total if I wanted (which is not what PER is you numbnuts, PER is Hollingers super special statistic).

I defined PER for this format, the basic ppg, rpg apg, simple stat stuff we all know and they've tracked forever b/c of some players being around when all stats were not tracked.

As far as you having high PER totals etc... you could get 3 guys all with 20/10/5 and you would still fall short. Not that it is about that, but it is nice to know that your train of thought is taking you there and that I have you outdone there. Wilt baby, he brings 57 all by himself!

Coaches, eh. Somebody else's idea, just went with it.

At this point you don't want to be matched up with me, quickly looking you lose, maybe badly.

Good luck. Don't forget about the spreadsheet for reference and stuff.

Note to all, maybe seeding should follow draft set up 1 v 16 etc... or I can do the random generator thing to select a new 1-16?

Since you've set up the spreadsheet with combined stats added up and averaged, maybe that's the way to do seeding. I think my team is middle of the pack or lower based on that, but I don't care because I think I can sell my teams winning against anyone thrown up against me. And I mean that literally, because they will be throwing up when faced with my team

aoxo also contributed heavily to these picks. He's not around this morning and I took a drastic step with Gilbert, but I think it is the only way to have a competitive roster.

Alright, for our two bench players we are taking an assassin from downtown that can play the 1 or the 2 with solid passing ability, giving us as lethal a lineup as anyone out there: Gilbert Arenas (it kills me to not take Hal Greer here and it is a shame he is not going to be anyone's six man, but I need someone that can play the 1 and the 2 to get the roster flexibility we need) and a guy that would probably be in the HOF if he had come over to the NBA before he was in his 30's..... Arvydas Sabonis. We can play small ball, Euroball, and fat ball if we want, giving us possibly the most flexible roster in the league.

Sabonis led the Soviets over the Americans in the 1988 Summer Olympics to win a gold medal. He didn't play in the NBA until he was 31, and in his first season helped lead Portland to the playoffs where he put up a monster 23.6 ppg and 10.2 rpg. Injuries and age took their course, and he never put up those numbers again. But anyone who watched the turn of the century Blazers teams knows how great Sabonis was, even in his mid 30s.

I'd do it again with current players or players active from '95ish on. Don't enjoy the huge cross generation aspect.

That said I don't even know if the boards have enough traffic to support something like this.
