My God. I didn't want to post here during the game for fear of ruining our mojo (plus I was watching it on a bit of a delay), but that was fun. Cavs never trailed in the game. Not once. This team is so good it's scary.

Vintage LeBron in this one. He took over the game in every. single. aspect. This has to rank up there as one of his top 5 games overall. He was everywhere tonight.

And any time you send a Boston team packing with their hands over their eyes, it's a sweet team. Fuck that city, fuck those teams, and fuck those fans.

This game was won with 2:35 to go in the 3rd quarter. In a single possession, he blocked a layup on the defensive end, and hit a jumper with the foul on the ensuing offensive possession.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Boston got closer than 8 the rest of the way.

Total domination on defense. KG, Pierce, and Shuttlesworth couldn't buy a bucket. I fear I may be getting overenthusiastic, but that's Spurs / later years MJ defensive domination. Not to belittle Boston, either: They were almost as solid on D. They just couldn't stop the L-Train.

Yeah, this is hands down a top three LBJ all around performance, IMO.

He was simply incredible.

The Celtics have a lot of soul searching to do, they hit a rough patch last year like this, but not as bad.

Woot! And that was without Z and his 14 points / 10 boards. Boston is showing vulnerablility. Their bench blows. They get rattled on the road just like the ATL and CLE series' last playoffs. Cavs still need to get Z's size back. They were getting beat up without Ben in the game. But we are looking good with a 3 game cushion in the loss column baby.

If LBJ remains as focused on the defensive end as he is today then Paul Pierce can look forward to a few more of those nights should the two teams meet up in the playoffs.

LBJ is conceding nothing on the defensive end. There was a set in the 2nd period when Pierce got the ball on the right wing against LBJ. 23 bodied him, poked the ball away, bodied him, stopped his dribble. Pierce gives up the ball and 23 blocks the hurried shot as the clock wound down.

Terrific defensive sequence. I believe Mark Jackson said he'd show it to his team the next day at practice to reiterate the point.

Apparently I missed this:

Boston had to resort to fouling Ben Wallace to try to trim Cleveland's lead in the fourth, but the Hack-A-Ben strategy was hardly effective as Cleveland's forward, a 44 percent free-throw shooter, made 5-of-10 free throws after being fouled on five straight possessions.

When he was taken out, Wallace shot a menacing stare toward Boston coach Doc Rivers.

Probably deserves an article but you just can't discount what an active and healthy Wallace has meant to this team. He gives them a presence and a toughness that they've lacked since, well, for a long, long time. Jim Brewer long.

He was amped tonight. A couple extra inches on the vertical, focused, running his ass off, helping all over the court. Just a perfect role guy who might as well have "Do not fuck with us" tattooed on his forehead.

They've fed him the honorary first possession for the past month or so almost in deference or as an acknowledgment of his position on the club.

I'm really growing to like and appreciate the guy.
I just pray he stays healthy.

leave it to the espn talking heads to put a damper on things. before and after the game, mark jackson and jeff van gundy were asked who they thought were the best teams in the nba. only van gundy had the balls to give it to the cavs both before and after the game. jackson said it was the lakers both times. what a piece of shit. did he not just watch the cavs completely dominate the celtics for 4 quarters???

later on, at the half of the phoenix-dallas game, avery johnson and jamal mashburn were asked who the best player in the nba is and johnson said kobe and jamal said lebron is just as good as kobe, but didn't really say who was better. can somebody please tell me how many championships has kobe won since lebron came into the league??? um, zero. kobe is still living off the 3 titles he won as robin to shaq's batman. he ain't done shit since he's been by himself except make one trip to the finals just last year and it took the pau gasol trade (otherwise known as "the fleecing of memphis") for him to get there.

I thought if anything, his three point shot was helped out by Coach K. at the Olympics IMO. I do think that he was helped out a little by Coach K a bit, but Mike Brown has made this team more solid defensively, and has helped LeBron with that as well. Very pleased at what Brown has done with this team, and how Danny Ferry has built this team into the shape they are in today. Used to think those guys had no idea how to run an NBA team, Now I want the new upper management for the Browns to spend some time at the Q to see how a successful pro sports franchise is run.

Few things...

LBJ had an MVP performance. He was tremendous.

Ben Wallace won't get enough credit but he was super as well, he intimidates KG and I think the Celts have a real problem matching up with the Cavs moving forward. I felt like tonight was a statement game in that regard, maybe I am looking too much nto it but frankly the Celts have NO ONE that can match LBJ and they have tons of issues with their team. If this game were in Boston, same result. They must address some things.

I don't know why but I noticed that Delonte West was knocked early in the thread by some posters. No offense, but seriously? Watch a basketball game on both ends. He was tremendous with his off the ball defense on Allen and his communication to his teammates. Just a terrific job and there is a reason why things break down sometimes when he is out of the game. Him and Wallace were the unsung guys tonight beneath LBJ's mammoth performance.

I think that's an actual tactic that the coaching staff is using now... during big games, if the Cavs win the tip-off, hurry to the basket, give the ball to Ben, and see if he can score.
