I read the first page of discussion underneath the article, but don't want to read all 350 posts. I think both of those ideas should be a FAIL.
1. Giving a team the choice to take a penalty shot on a roughing minor from a scrap after the whistle blows? Does that sound like something we should be interested in? I think they should award MORE penalty shots than they do now when a guy gets a breakaway and somebody slashes at him or hooks him. But let's only award these opportunities when the penalty has occurred in this type of situation.
2. Making all penalties "major" penalties I think would make referees swallow their whistle. Some may say that's a good thing, but there's still too much hooking and slashing and this rule change would make it even worse.
