My personal outlook...the US may have the second or third best goaltending in the tournament, right behind Canada and Sweden. They will have a better tandem than Sweden, but Lundqvist is spectacular.
In any event, Thomas and Miller make it as goaltenders.
On defense, I expect Komisarek, Martin, Orpik, Rafalski, Suter, and Whitney to be the starting six. The battle for the 7th and 8th D will come down to one of the Johnsons and Scuderi. It's average. It will be the worst of the main countries (Canada, Sweden, Russia, Finland) but might be better than the Czechs.
At forward, I expect Backes, Booth, Brown, Drury, Kane, Kesler, Kessel, Malone, Modano, Oshie, Parise, Pavelski, Ryan to be definites. It's a very young and talented group. Drury makes it for experience purposes to be a leader. I love their speed, but the main countries will have the speed on D to combat it.
They'll probably carry 8 D, 13 F, 2 G. They're a long shot for a medal. Bronze is a possibility.
The Olympics are February 2010 in Vancouver.
