What a tremendous story. Let's hope this kid gets his wish.

A follow-up on this story courtesy of Puck-Rakers.

Here is a little new information about the Blue Jackets' visit to Ryan Salmons' home yesterday courtesy of winger Jason Chimera.

Chimera says that general manager Scott Howson was awesome during the "contract offer" to Ryan. Howson went through the contract page by page the way he would any potential player. The GM told Ryan he hadn't seen him play, but that he heard a lot of good things. Howson said his contract would include two tickets to the first playoff game if the Jackets qualified.

Ryan's father, Brad, sat in amazement as Howson went over the entire deal making his son feel special. "This is the general manager of a major professional sports team," Brad said. "Who would take that kind of time?"

First Take on ESPN2 is about to do a piece on this within the next 5-10 minutes or so, for those interested. If anyone looks in this forum.

Wow, what a classy thing to do for all those involved. Very nice, the world needs to hear more of those kind of stories. Make me want to go out and buy a Jackets jersey just for the hell of it.
