Hopefully some of you saw my preview but I'll keep everyone updated on the games here.

Russia dominated Latvia 4-1 today. Mayorov did not play, I'm not sure he made the trip. Perhaps due to injury. Filatov had 6 of Russia's 44 shots on goal.

The US is currently destroying Germany 7-1 midway through the third period. van Riemsdyk and Wilson both have a pair. The US has Germany tripled in shots, with Ruth a +1.

Finland-Sweden later, and Canada-Czech Republic after that.

Team USA winds up winning 8-2. Matt Rust gets one at the 19:59 mark to give them the six goal lead back. It could be a big goal as goal differential is a tiebreaker. I only saw half of the third, but the bench was fired up for Rust, so it's safe to say he played a strong game and deserved one.

Also, keep the name Ryan McDonagh in mind. Currently at Wisconsin, he's Montreal's property and he could be a real good one.

In the later games, the Swedes beat Finland 3-1 but looked sluggish and the shots were close at 28-21 Sweden.

Canada thumped the Czechs 8-1. A name to watch for the Jackets in the '09 draft, Ryan Ellis, had a goal, two assists, and a +3. Cody Goloubef was the best Blue Jacket yesterday posting a +2.

Both Canada and the US are off today and will play tomorrow. The US plays the Czechs and Canada plays Kazahkstan.

Today, Canada humiliated Kazahkstan 15-0, scoring 8 powerplay goals. Cody Goloubef had an assist and was +5.

Russia beat the Finns 5-2 getting a pair of goals from Nikita Filatov.

Currently, the US is tied 1-1 with the Czechs a little over halfway through the 2nd period.

Team USA squeaked past the Czechs 4-3 today. Shots were even at 27. Ryan Schroeder had a pair for the Americans and Kevin Shattenkirk had two assists.

Next up for the Americans, they get Kazakhstan on Tuesday before the big New Year's Eve showdown with Canada.

Actually, there's talk that the Winter Classic might be pushed back a day due to the abnormally warm temperatures that we've had in the midwest over the past few days. Hopefully they don't do it, but, it's definitely a possibility.

Welcome to the boards though, S Kess Express. It'd be good to have another contributor in the hockey forums around these parts.

After losing 7-4 to Canada on Wednesday, the United States team is now done with a 5-3 loss to Slovakia.

Incredibly disappointing. They dominated the whole game and got stonewalled by the Slovak goaltender. I knew goaltending was a weakness for Team USA, but not that bad.

Canada wins gold 5-1 over Sweden. Filatov shines in leading the Russians to the bronze. We'll finish up some post-tournament coverage on the radio show tomorrow night at 8:30.
