I loved that piece. Hit home.

Its one of those things ... you settle down, have kids ... you want the single life back. Get a night out with da boys, get 8 beers in your single buddy, and he starts tellin you how lucky you are to have settled down and have kids. End of the night/weekend/trip, you feel like shit from drinking for 4 days straight, sleeping in a uncomfortable hotel bed, shower with no water pressure, drying your genitals with spaghetti sauce stained towels ... the GF/wife and kids look better than ever when you get back.

Then you want to be single again two days later with no restrictions.

It's a vicious cycle.

Vicious but beautiful. Now and then I will lead my single buds on their annual retraining trip with the General. Last year after it was over, at 6AM in Waffle house, I said, "consider yourseves schooled".

Quality piece there, two things running through my mind reading that...

1) I flew into NOLA on Monday afternoon (before his flight out was canceled). I actually had an extra ticket to the Hornets game that night that I sold outside of the Arena. Sorry about that Hiko.

2) I was also having similar thoughts flying over Pontchartrain, Northshore, and Manchac Monday afternoon. Gone for a week really makes you miss and love home, regardless of where that may be. I also had my ipod on shuffle and this song hit randomly when we were flying over the swamps...
