How do you like your hotdog?

So had some dogs tonight and started thinking about this. I think I am in the minority because I would prefer them boiled over throwing them on the grill. Just wondered if I am wierd or if others agree. The best dog there is at the Jake, Jumbo, Sugardale, grilled onions, and Ballpark mustard. Love that dog. Another one moving up in the my heirarchy is the Portillo's Chicago dog. Vienna dog, with steamed poppy seed bun, mustard, onions, relish, celery salt, pickle and sport peppers. Going to miss those about Chicago.

I am the BIGGEST fan of hotdogs. Here's my preference.....Regular hotdogs are to be boiled or LIGHTLY grilled. If they are grilled too long, they get rubbery, burnt, and pruney. Nathans, Ball Parks, and Hebrew National dominate the field. If you want to go the more expensive route, Id recommend buying Johnsonville Cheddar Dogs. Hands down the best thing that isnt a bratwurst. All my dogs (and Brats) are eaten on a toasted bun (on the grill) with Ketchup, Spicy Garlic Mustard, and Onions. God Bless America

When I do have dogs I usually hit up a butcher shop and get the all beef hot dogs. Simmer them in some beer for half an hour and finish them up on the grill. Lay on the stadium mustard.

Just gimme a standard Ball Park or Oscar Meyer, grilled, with stadium mustard and dill relish. If there's no stadium mustard to be had, then just some form of dijon is an alright substitute. Chili, cheese, and onion is good occasionally too.

All beef dogs need to be boiled and put on grill for full effect, followed by ketchup, ballpark mustard, and relish (sweet or dill depending on the situation). Looking at the link that fundamentals posted with the Bertman's bottle and label, I'm almost sure that my parents have a bottle at their house. That looks too familiar. It would make sense with all of the business he does in Cleveland that he probably picked some up or someone sent him some, etc. I may make the trek down to mom and pops' this weekend to raid the kitchen and see what transpires.

Only buy them from the American Grill stands. That means they are grilled and delish. Do not buy from vendors or anywhere else. They are boiled and nasty.

In addition, buying them from the vendors/stands at the Jake is also sacriledge. If you want the real experience (and just the right amount of bacteria) you need to buy them from the homeless looking guy selling them on the street. Nothing better than a boiled dog covered in stadium mustard!

i felt uncomfortable eating them. the color of the dog matched skin tone perfectly. all it needed was a head, and it probably would've counted as a gay experience. and on top of that they tasted awful, kinda like a cross between bad lunch meat turkey and the disgusting chicken(?) they served on mondays at SHS
