Geeez, that is really pricey, but I won't judge. I've been out of pocket for a couple of years and probably would have paid something insane as well. Did you get the charbroiled oysters? Not as good as Drago's, but still really good.

Tried them, as the people I was with ordered some. But I'm not a big seafood fan, so I had the chicken & sausage gumbo, which was great and better than Palace Cafe's (which I always thought was super).

Actually, I'm already back in Texas - it was just a weekend trip.

But since my fiance's family is from Galliano, I've spent more time than I care to remember down the bayou. She was the one who actually had the crawfish and was shocked when they told her it was $9.50/lb. Apparently, right now crawfish is selling for about $3.50 or $4.00/lb in the bayou.

I had remembered from a previous convo that you had family or was married into family from out that way (for some reason Raceland/Lockport came to mind immediately). Fantastic people down there, really down home, super generous folk.

Gotta ask though. Your fiance, does she have that good ol, natural, "down da baya" Galliano accent?

I'll be in NOLA in a few weeks, and am definitely planning a trip to Acme for some oysters...they also have good jambalaya and it's relatively cheap. Now I'm hungry...

Oh yes. The one where buffet is pronounced "boo-fay", every other sentence starts with the word "may," "bab" is a term of endearment, and words that could only be found in a bayou dictionary (such as "dewpwant," "sob-an," "pootee") florish.
