I was at BW3 the other night. The guy at the next table had an orange beer with fruit in it. I assume it was Blue Moon. I spent the next 5 minutes wondering if it was acceptable, seein-as-how I don't mind a blue moon myself on a hot day at the beginning of summer.

But, in a bar, in Cleveland, on a Saturday, when it was 40 degrees out...well, it just seemed wrong. I decided I would have to ask Lars. I suspect I know what he'll say.

BTW eoy - Over the last year or two, Troegs has vaulted into my my 3-5 breweries. I've never had something of theirs that I didn't like.

As mentioned previously, their Mad Elf kicks GLBC's Christmas Ale ass every single year.

Unfortunately, around here, Xmas Ale is Jack Hannahan, Mad Elf is Evan Longoria, and peeps will argue how Hannahan is competitive with Longoria :hide:

Hoppin Frog Hoppin Xmas crushes all as does Corsendonk and Scaldis Noel (which I've preached for years). EY - well done on Nugget Nectar, stuff is outstanding and one of the most unique amber/brown ales out there. For those of you who have been to Lizardville in Warrensville Heights, they have GLBC Barrel Aged Rackhouse on draught. If you've had Rackhouse at the brewery as a pub exclusive, you can imagine how unreal the BA version is. Almost time for Lake Erie Monster!!! :cheers:

Better than Eddy Fitz? If so, your a connoisseur of beer as much as CDT is one of pizza. I kid I kid, though if you can get em, try Founders Porter, 3 Floyds Alpha Klaus, or Smuttynose Robust Porter. You will not be disappointed.

And there is nothing wrong with Blue Moon. I don't care for it personally, but as a beer fan I welcome the big boys to try their hand at typical craft styles. Sam Adams has tapped into this market with their new line "limited" series. I've tried the Cinder Bock Rauchbier and Griffon's Bow Blonde Barleywine and they were better than average.

I like it better than EF from GLBC. One reason could very well be I've only had Dead Reckoning on tap and Ed Fitz in bottle.

New brewery call River North in Denver. Real small. Real awesome. Its the type of place you can't find in the Northeast, especially Boston.

I really like Nogne O porter as well. I think it deserves a seat at most porter tables...

Sam Adams PorchRocker just hit my store.

It's Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy, only it's a little thicker because it's Sam Adams. Crisp Lemon taste, goes down too easy, like most beers of this type.

Great lakes Oktoberfest 2012 is on the shelves. Just as tasty as years past. Waiting for Souther Tier PumKing. Splitting a case of that fine brew this year with a friend.

Southern Tier PumKing hit the shelves last weekend. I aged a bottle from last year and did a taste test with the new batch.

Results:

2011 Vintage: After being aged, the taste is much more mellow than I remember. On the nose, the pumpkin is much less noticable, but the taste is all there. Very smooth going down, excellent finish. Really and truly a superior beer.

2012 Vintage: The Pumpkin jumps right out at you when you crack the bottle. Taste is "livlier" than the aged bottle with a bit more bite from the hops. Lovely finish, you know you've had a pumpkin ale.

So, yeah, PumKing still is the boss.

Drinking a bomber of Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA. Blend of 90 minute and 60 minute with maple syrup. Nice one
