Something to bring up real quick about this one:
3. Mater Dei, Santa Ana, Calif. (8-3)
In the huddle: OT Khaled Holmes (6-5, 300), an ESPN 150 player, anchors a line which needs to give enough time to promising junior QB Matt Barkley (1,349 passing yards). RB Robert Modica (six TDs) and wide receivers Robbie Boyer, Carlos Valdes and Ryan Mumma are offensive options.
I'm going into my 7th year teaching here. I'll tell you, that Barkley kid is going to go wherever he wants, and he's only a junior. He's been starting since his freshman year. You'll hear a lot about him. Also, that Khaled Holmes kid is going to be an NFL prospect. He's a great kid, but a beast of an athlete with some of the best feet of any senior OL in the nation.
MD has perenially been a power-running team, but they've got 4 WRs that run a sub 10.7 100-yard dash at WR alone. Needless to say, I'm real excited about watching the kids play this year. Having taught a bunch of kids on that team I'm really looking forward to watching them kick ass.
