Fun little thread to crow about your teams.

First draft was this AM. Early in the year for the first draft, but you gotta get em in while you can.

16 teamer.

QB - Jay Cutler, Brady Quinn
RB - Adrian Peterson, Knoshawn Moreno, Leon Washington, Michael Bush, Glenn Coffee, Rashard Mendanhal
WR - Reggie Wayne, Braylon Edwards, Derrick Mason
TE - Greg Olsen
K - Adam Viniateri
DEF - Chargers

I like it. Hard to do a 16 team draft 3 weeks before the season starts. Had to take as many potential running backs as possible, and I like all of those guys. Obviously thin at WR, but hopefully Bray finds some stick em.

10-team ESPN league. Fifth pick, snake-style. Did it on a whim, more to just see who is going where in preparation for my real leagues (like the TCF). Call it training camp:

First two picks were autodrafted. When I saw what was left in Round 3 I decided to try to get elite WRs. I think Brandon Marshall in the fourth (36th overall) has huge upside. A little bit earlier than I usually go for a QB, but Warner has high-reward potential in Round 5. That's the strategy I tried to go with from there on out, try to get a high-reward guy at each spot regardless of whether it was too early for him. That's why I took the Steelers defense in the sixth. Premier pick at the position rather than a safe pick or a gamble pick. Reggie Bush and Chris Wells are boom or bust. Fred Jackson is a starter for the first three weeks for Buffalo. Shaun Hill/Isaac Bruce worked well last year; can't complain about them as the last two picks.

Never been in a 16-team league, so don't know what kind of players you should expect to have. Only like AP and Wayne off that team. Cutler has fewer weapons. Could be a long year with those RBs.

I'll put it here even though Pup and I were talking about it in the other thread. Here is the end result. I actually predicted LT, Wayne, Rivers as my first 3, and even LT and Manning. Heres how it fell 6th pick out of 12, non PPR

QB - Rivers, Orton
RB - Chris Johnson, LenDale White, Hightower, Ray Rice, James Davis, Fred Jackson
WR - Wayne, Houshmazilla, Driver, Hester, Maclin, Bennett
TE - Clark

Didnt draft kicker or D, because it is 2 weeks out and I want to see how things fall. I'll just pick on up later.

I was actually quite pleased with my draft. LT went 5 and I am not high on DeAngelo. I am sure others think Chris Johnson is a dumb pick at six, but whatever.

Got to 2nd pick and Manning, Wayne, Megatron, and Steve Smith were all there. Brady actually went the pick before, I would have taken him no question. I almost went Manning, but there was no way I'd end up with a top tier WR in the 3rd, so I rolled the dice that Rivers would be there on the way back and he was. Took Wayne over CJ and SS because of the QB situations. I know CJ put up numbers but Stafford is goign to have a ton of growing pains. Figured I'd play it safe.

Wanted Clark bad, so I took him in the 5th, I love him this year.

Didnt intentionally take LenDale and Chris Johnson, but it fell that way. Ward was taken right before I wanted him then all that was left were the Jamal Lewis types, Willie Parker, etc. If you look at it, combined they went for 2000 and 24 TDs, While not spectacular, I'd be ok with a RB combo that puts up 1000 each and 12 tds each. Plus I have Rice, Hightower (dont let me down Beanie, get hurt again), and Fred Jackson who I will probably use early in the season. My strategy was go safe early and gamble all the late rounds, I think I did pretty solid.

FWIW: Peter King just said on Twitter the Mcgahee looks great in camp and 3 RBs are going to get legit carries in BAL, IOW: stay away from their rbs.

Pretty good supporting cast too considering. Love Vincent Jackson this year. Cribbs takes back 2-3 kicks, catches 4-5 TDS, will be a good enough #2.

If Kenny Britt is on the wire, I'd grab him as a hedge to Washington. One of em should have a good year.

This is the huge point that no one got at the draft last night (I got shit for paying $3 for him, Cribbs is going to catch a few TDs, maybe run for 1 and collect his couple on kick returns. That makes him a super value grab in a non-points per reception league. I had Deshaun Jackson last year and he won me 2-3 weeks, which is all you can really hope for if you don't go for one of the top six WRs in a non PPR league.

Top WR (FITZ) in our scoring system was the #38 player overall last year. Why spend money there when you can load at up RB (and I think Forte is going to be huuuuuuuge this year, scared about the other two studs though) and roll the dice on a few guys who are certain to get 2 TDs twice and win you a couple of games?

Honestly, in a PPR league I have Forte 1 right now.

One of my friends has the first pick in a PPR and I keep trying to convince him to take Forte. He wants to go AP. Forte should outscore AP (barring injury) in a PPR league without question.

Hoping to turn a QB into an upgrade at WR, but I think I can compete with 3 good RBs, a top QB, and very good TE/K/DEF. If I can upgrade Moss to a top 25 WR, I think my team is a lock for 10 wins. FWIW, I accidentally drafted Moose over the guy I wanted...Chris Chambers. Hope that doesn't bite me.

I really, really like this team especially considering it was the 7th pick (worst IMO). For some reason, there were 3 or 4 owners that were absolutely ridiculous which explains how I got Chris Johnson in the 2nd round! (Larry Fitz in 1)

Took the last defense, TE, and QB and very happy with both the D and QB. Will pick up a K before week one, but not sure who I want to drop from this team. Anyone have any thoughts? Tempted to let go of Norwood, as I've been drafting him late for several years now and he always is a headache. Don't want to lose Davis or Brown before I see how much time either is getting early.

Manning, Johnson, MJD are studs. Super upside in Thomas and Marshall. Tons of depth. I think it's one of my best teams ever.

Had my 2nd (and probably last) draft last night. 16 team league with a different lineup than I'm used to, only 1 mandatory started RB --- 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 RB/WR, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 D, 1 K, and with that being said I went WR with my 1st 2 picks and got 2 of the top 4 elite WR's. Also I left before my last 3 picks (J. Russell, kicker, defense)

14th year in a league we started in college with manual USA Today sourced scoring. Although we've upgraded to cbssportsline, I'm PROUD TO SAY WE STILL HOLD A LIVE DRAFT TOGETHER EVERY YEAR! Our wives all signed off before nuptuals. This year, it was my turn to host- we did Put In Bay. Debauchery, anyway...

League favors long touchdowns with more rules iterations over 14 years than could be listed. A very, very unique league. We start 2QB, 3RB, 4WR/TE, 2K, 2DST, 1 Flex

Forte was my first round pick at 8 slot. Neither DA nor Quinn were picked in my league, as we run a weekly supplemental draft and can't risk the roster spots, I guess.

Only 4 people showed up to this draft (work league), blech. Not very happy with how it turned out. Didn't want to have yet another team riding on Chris Johnson, he better not get injured. Apparently made a huge mistake not taking an elite WR at the top of round 2 instead of Steve Slaton. Miscalculation on my part, as my WRs are very poor and there were plenty of nice RBs available later. Happy I finally got Aaron Rodgers, who I wanted in every league, but missed again on Shiancoe as he went just before I wanted him and got stuck with Sheffler.

I ought to be able to deal a RB for a high end WR a few weeks in if I need it, though.

So I already made a trade. I dont see how I dont win. Someone was getting nervous about Pierre Thomas. I traded for Thomas with Fred Jackson and Donald Driver. Just weakened my Wr's who are now Wayne, Housh, Hester and Maclin but RB's are Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Thomas, LenDale White. This is a league who likes to trade, so I figure I can spin Rice or Thomas off for a WR better than Driver.

Thoughts?

You didn't weaken your WRs that much by trading Driver. And you might not want to trade Rice away once you see him in action.

I did a league last night where some clown picked Brian Westbrook #1 overall and got worse from there.

My final draft had a team that went Sage Rosenfels, Dallas Clark, Nate Kaeding 1-2-3. We haven't heard an explanation yet for how this possibly happened (dude was autodrafting). Wonder if the commish will be able to collect his entry fee...

I utterly flubbed on the receivers, took some flak for taking Gostkowski in the 7th round, but I'm about to break 100 pts tomorrow night thanks to APete, Jennings, and Crayton. Not a bad start, all things considered.
