Thus endeth the Greg Little era.

Loved the idea of him, hated the reality.

"Worried about losing Josh Gordon? I'm Ray Fucking Farmer! I don't worry about shit! You wanna see? Hmmm... maybe I should draft a WR... BAM! Fuck that! I draft a Guard! Hmmm... maybe I should hold onto what few experienced and/or healthy receivers I have... BAM! Fuck that! I drop Greg Little! Don't test my nerve, baby, or I'll cut Phil Taylor just to show you how badass I be!"

I'm not a Greg Little fan (does such a thing exist), but this just seems weird considering the circumstance. Is there any advantage to dropping him now as opposed to during training camp when the WR picture is a bit more settled and we know for sure wtf is going to happen with Gordon?

Gee, that would make sense.

Know what Ray Farmer's got to say about that?

No matter how good/bad your receiving corp is, the guy that can't catch is about worthless.

Freaking about cutting Greg Little? Quit it.

Yeah, you're WAY projecting if you think anyone is freaking out.

I just think that I cannot currently state without hesitation that Greg Little ISN'T one of the six best WR's currently on the roster, and thus releasing him seems to be a slightly counter-productive move, especially at a position of such need. "Worthless" would be a gross over-simplification.

I agree, but you have to be a winning org in order for that to work.

Otherwise, it's "Oh no, I won't get to play for the Browns any more. I have to go to another city and play for a hopefully winning team. How will I ever survive?"

Cut the cancer before it can infect. I agree. I bet he tries to sign with a new team and drops the pen.

If Tim Tebow could THROW he'd be on a roster.

That darn throwing with the QB position is such a hassle.

If we could eliminate the pesky "receive" part of receiver, Greg Little would be on one.

He isn't one of the 6 best. Unless there are only 6. Pretty sure you can find 3 catches for 40 yards anywhere. Especially if it is on 9 attempts.

Again, a gross over-simplification, but really not worth debating.

Curious to see where he lands, since guys with his physical skills always get a second shot somewhere.

The last two words I think of when describing Little are "physical" and "skills".

He's big. He's got decent speed.

Let's call them "physical traits" instead.

Little has every physical characteristic you could possibly want other than the ability to catch the ball. He's big, strong, physical and fast.

But that inability to catch a football was somewhat problematic when you consider the job requirements.

I'll give you "attributes". Watch Belichick pick him up and turn him into an elite free safety.

It's like when we drafted Brady Quinn. I remember talent evaluators saying he's good but has problems with his accuracy. Huh??? Wha?? Talk of job requirements!!

Anyone who suggests keeping Little because of a thin WR corps obviously is in favor of keeping Weeden for the same reason...eh?

How can a team possibly miss a guy whose forte is killing drives?

Excellent point, FMB. That pretty much ends the discussion.

I heard Little was late to his first Raiders practice. He couldn't catch a cab.

Then he forgot the route.
