Really? You think us dropping and getting an extra #1 and taking the best corner was a mistake? I think it's easier to criticize them passing Mack there, but I still ultimately think if was a good move.

I think passing up Watkins will haunt us for years. It's all speculation at this point, but that's how I feel in May of 2014.

Evans was the better WR pick for the Browns, I think.

But apparently Gilbert is the guy they wanted all along. Pettine is Rex Ryan without the foot fetish. He is CB obsessed according to NFL Radio.

bookelly wrote:Well, that was interesting at least. Lee still on the board. Looks like Huston will go with a QB (Carr) and then some defensive help for the skins? Who knows. Lee or Hyde or ILB or G is all I care. We still have a 3rd left for a ILB and the rest for OL IMHO.

World is their oyster in that case.

You have Kouandijo if you want a monstrous T, Lee is still there as your WR option and Su'aFilo if you want/need a G there.

You obviously have your choice of RBs.

After Shazier I'm afraid ILBs are a reach ;-) ;)

So, guess it comes down to whether you like Lee more than next guy (Jordan Matthews?) or Hyde/Hill more than next RB.

I love the first rounder they got from Bills to drop to 9. Think that pick could be a top 10-12 pick next year.

But if you were gonna give Cost-Plus Jimmy his favorite toy later in first round, how nice would it have been to give them both a Sammy Watkins to pair up with?

I dig the 1st round pick. I get it. But at some point you need to take the premier players in the draft when you have them sitting there for you.

And the Browns had their chance for Watkins and Mack and went a different way.

We'll see how it plays out.

Not sure where he is on anybody's board, but Jordan Matthews is a stud at WR. Probably nobody outside of Nashville can even name Vanderbilt's QB (or any of their other offensive skill players besides Matthews) but he put up strong numbers against some good defenses that were focused on stopping him first.

Any Cleveland fan who lights up such a cigar before Pick 22 (aka as "Quinn-Weeden Ceremonial Dumpster Fire Selection") comes and goes without said QB being chosen? Well, someone shoulda lit Hiko on fire for that rookie move.

I'd say, the results are obviously to be determined. But the execution? Nearly flawless. They had the spots they thought they had to get to for their guys and they got there. Maybe a little lucky (if he pans out) that they thought they had to get to 11 for Manziel and couldn't but he was still there at their next "time to make a move" spot.

I was on the road receiving texts about the draft when the first trade was made. I was furious at first. I loved Watson, Mack and Evans. Great impact guys. I later heard that we also picked up the Bills' 1st rounder next year, I changed my tune. We certainly needed DB help, but I was enamored by those guys at the top of the draft. Looking more at the numbers on Gilbert (lightning speed, kick/punt return ability, etc), I am beginning to feel a little better about that pick.

Browns trade up ONE spot to draft Kellen Winslow.
Browns trade up ONE spot to draft Trent Richardson
Browns trade up ONE spot to draft Justin Gilbert.

This does have the makings of a really bad movie (although I enjoyed Groundhog Day Groundhog Day Groundhog Day).

Either that, or third time's a charm????

This is exactly the opposite we were seeing under the other regimes where our trade-ups cost us a fortune and our trade-downs netted minimum returns. So based on day one of the draft I speculate that he is a much better negotiator than his predessesors.

Yeah, getting Buffalo's #1 next year was crazy good. Bills getting heavy criticism for that deal.

So at what point do the fricking idiots watching the draft in person quit booing every person that comes to the podium? Wouldn't it get boring booing goodell every times he announces a pick. Christ they were booing 70 year old hall of famers that were presenting the 2nd round picks

which late round pick will the WR be?
but in no place is the pain like Cleveland's: all-encompassing, multi-generational, redundant and unique at once.

Well, that would be the 4th (127) or the 7th (218) as that's all they have left.

I'm sure the 218th best player in the draft class will be something special.
