Jarvis Jones * and the 3-4

There's not a Big Board , or Mock Draft. That does not have this guy as not only the top Defensive Pass rusher in the CFB (Which I think everyone agrees is a huge need), but also in most cases the #1 guy coming off the board. However they all say the same thing: "he projects to be a 3-4 OLB."

If The Browns are in a position to draft him (which is still a big if with as bad as the bottom of the barrel is this year). Do we:
A) Convert him into a 4-3 DE.
B) Keep him as a OLB in the 4-3
C) Switch to a 3-4 D, to showcase this kids talent. Bare in mind Banner said last week that changing schemes is in not off the table.

Sidenote: If the Browns are not in a position to get Jones I think they should target
Damontre Moore. He projects to be a great fit for a 4-3 DE, and has already racked up 9.5 sacks.

They projected Von Miller to a 3-4 OLB and he's doing just fine in Denver's 4-3. Good players make a difference no matter the scheme.

I also know that Heckert likes his 4-3 DE's to be lighter, around 250-260, so I think he'd probably play a situational DE here despite the fact that he's smaller.

It's also easier to adapt when you're ridiculously talented, which any pass rusher we draft in the Top 5 better be.

Unless it's a trade down for 2-3 spots for an extra 1st or a few seconds, i'm not in favor of trading down this year. This team needs immediate, impact players on defense; ELITE DE, LB, DB. (In that order)

That being said, if we switch defensive schemes, we're fucked and we might as well trade down to accumulate talent because the defense is 2-3 years away from being useful at that point anyway. Will need to replace half the starters.

I would argue that if you're worried about whether the guy could adapt to a particular type of defense you should disregard taking him top 5. The LT's and DT's of the world.....get em' out on the field, they'll find the QB.

On D, it's Jones, Mingo, and Montgomery along with that DT from Utah. Geno and Barkley have also been in top-5/10 conversation.

I'd be happy with either three of Jones, Mingo, and Montgomery. If we dropped down a few spots, I wouldn't even mind Manti Teo, even though he's on the inside.

Jarvis was a beast today. 12 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 fumbles recovered. Teo was also a beast... 11 tackles and a pick.

I'd take them both. Big players putting up during a big game.
