Sweet, 1 step closer to the #1 pick and Matt Barkley. Not taking a 1st round QB this year is looking smarter and smarter.

(Sorry, I did not intend to hijack a Browns injury thread with bitching about the FO. Its just I heard some schmuck on the radio today breaking down all the NFL teams win totals and he gave the Browns a ceiling of 3 wins. So I'm in a bad mood.)

In the NFL, giving any team a "ceiling" of 3 wins in May is simply retarded.

Come on guys, it's a DT. We drafted John Hughes and Billy Wynn there to provide depth. We'll get by ok. If our season tanks it will be because of the offense and Weeden ,not this injury.

Don't even fret a minute over this.

Far better prospect than Blackmon, certainly Miller. Then again, there are also premier DE's out there top 10 as well.

How long does it take to heal from this? Is he really lost for all of the season already?

What clown is running S&C or was he on his own?

Wonder if they bring in a Vet off the scrap heap to replace him (and lets be real, even if it's not torn, which you KNOW it is, he's going to miss some games) Recovery 4-6 months, possibly longer.

Haynesworth?

Complete tear he's gone for year and other pec becomes a concern (a la DQ).

Partial tear he could be back before camp ends with rehab.

Not sure if it was supervised but it was team facility and was while lifting allegedly.

In Heckert's 3rd year you seriously ask this question?

The kids will get the PT and we'll see what they can do. Personally, I think it'd be hilarious if Hughes comes in an acquits himself well.

At least it didn't happen during training camp. Maybe he can recover in time to come back midseason. In the meantime the young guys they drafted can get some playing time.

I wouldn't give the Browns a ceiling of 3 wins. I think they are going to shock the rest of the NFL and get 4 wins. Maybe even 5. OK, that's probably just crazy talk.

I'd love it if they were in contention for the number one pick. Fact is, no matter how bad they are, there's always someone worse. Usually a couple teams. They're bad enough to be bad, but not bad enough to get the players that will make them good.

Here's de ting. I'm not gonna talk out of both sides of my mouth.

Phil Talyor was / is not a great player. Big Ty is better than him. We'll get a chance to see if Heckert is a foo or truth yet again with all of his first 4 picks very early. This is Heckert's signature draft.

As much as I look at the schedule and think :bag: by game 6, the Browns lost games mostly due to a constipated offense. The run D certainly did them no favors either. Phil Taylor didn't solidify the run by any stretch of the imagination. He really didn't pass rush like a monster where the center of the DL consistently caved in although he had moments. I don't think he was an impactful first round pick. I thought he was good to awe-ite mostly, which to me is a borderline disappointment -- in year one. While he has a chance to get better and is not a bust now that he's potentially out I'm not gonna flip and be all "Oh shit, season over", particularly when they added depth on the DL, and Frostee can move inside on 3rd downs. The levee just didn't break.

Mysterio is dead nuts on. The improvement, if there is to be any, will had to come from the OL beefing up, Little and Norwood getting better and Carlton perhaps evolving from Sasquatch/Nessie status, TR being as adverted, and Weeden having a solid rookie season (altho there will be rookie miscues) as a guy who can use the whole field and doesn't need Depends (TM) in the pocket. I'm not gonna get all polyanna crazy like Hiko but if we do that and we'll win a few games and be in most except all but the true playas and SB contenders who outclass us. That doesn't happen and we struggle vs the Chefs.

The real fear is if this is recurring and PT gets all busty instead of a scent interior player or hopefully better as he learns.

I still want to kno why pecs are getting blown up in Berea under supervised S &C. Am I wrong about that?

Good question. I'd like to know how LeCharles Bentley got staph and almost died. Nearly dying is the kind of thing that tends to discourage free agents from wanting to come here. That and years and years of directionless losing.

Just like last year, when they won 4 games and could've easily won 4 or 5 more. Did we lose a bunch of great players during the offseason that I didn't notice that the team is clearly going to be worse?

That's why 5 or 6 isn't polyanna - it's non-butt-hurt.

Winning 5 or 6 is what I think they WILL do.

That's not their "ceiling".

Saying that if everything falls just the right way and they get really really lucky, then the Browns can win 3 games is retarded.

Stick "5" in that sentence and it's still retarded.

I'm on record saying I think 9 is their ceiling. Does that mean I think they'll win 9? Hell no. But if they won every close game they were in last year, they would've been a playoff team. That's what a ceiling is - win every game you have a chance to win. Look to last year's Broncos as an example of a team that flirted with its ceiling.

To say that the Browns will only have the opportunity - will only have a chance - to win 3 games is flat retarded.

I think Hiko played alot of high school football. Lotta collisions.

We're all butt hurt. He's the one who's watched this team trip on its dick under this regime for two straight years and sees '9' as a ceiling. That's funny. This team can jump two inches off the ground. In terms of talent they're fucking midgets. They ain't hitting a ceiling higher than a midget that can jump 2" off the ground can hit.

I'll take 3 and Hiko can have 9. The guys who's closest wins a case of beer.

You take your ceiling and I'll take reality and we'll see who's buying the case ;-) ;)

Interesting hearing you, Hiko, and LP's opinions on next year. I'd ignorantly place an over/under at 4.5 without looking at any gambling sites. What would you guys place them at?

I think that's the right number.

I'll take the under and you'll pay me with all those excitable boys' paychecks. You know, the guys who magically start to believe in August when Weeden is beating UDFAs like dogs in camp and no one is allowed to hit anyone.

You want to play it safe then go 5.5 though. All you want's the juice anyway, right? ;-) ;)

A really good gambling follow on Twitter, @beyondthebets, posted in his forum that the Browns over/under should be 4.5, with -115 juice on both sides. He projects them for 5.05 wins.

Ha ha. I had to google "juice sports betting" to understand what you were trying to say. I haven't gambled since a Vegas bachelor party in 2007. :nanner: Banana for Peeker.

Just curious what knowledgeable people thought; probably better as a thread in 3 or four months.

Broncos under 10 wins.

For some reason people are thinking they signed Peyton Manning of 2007.

Instead, they got and old guy who was on the decline before who knows how many neck surgeries. They need A LOT of good things to happen in this regard, and they've got to play some real tough teams out of division. Houston, New England, New Orleans, Pitts, Balt.

Get on that one before people wake up.

With Taylor in there, we were like 30th against the run. Without him are we 32nd?

Did you have a retard sandwich for lunch?

Ceiling. Ceiling. Understand the word.

The best they could possibly do if they won every close game and every team's QB got hurt and the gods intervened is 3 wins?

That's the absolute best we could hope for? They'll only be in 3 games. They'll only have a chance to win 3 games.

9 wins is not my prediction. 9 games is what I predict they will be "in" come the 4th quarter.

You only think they'll be in 3? When last year they were in, what, 11? 12?

They've gotten so much worse somehow that they will only be in 3 games this year?

Stop eating those sandwiches.

Are we pining after the 24th ranked WR again?

You and WR's...

Bwah!!!!

Puppies and unicorns? I shoulda figured.

Okay... then 15 is their ceiling.

I think your ridiculous, arbitrary number is low.

Weeden will be the 29 yr old Tom Brady, the receivers were all great all along and every single break goes their way.

2nd coming of the no-name defense and a synthetic pec allows Taylor back on the field for game 1.

Wrong year to give up season tickets since they're hosting the AFC title game.

Dammit.

:thud:

Good God.... imaginary ceilings?

I haven't heard of a white washing like this since the SLA turned Patty Hearst into a puddle of cooperation. ;-) ;)
