The Cleveland Browns had stepped up their efforts to try to acquire the No. 2 pick in recent days, going so far as to offer at least three No. 1 picks to the Rams and possibly even the second-round pick, according to one source familiar with the deal. Cleveland sensed it was going to get the deal done, only to be informed that St. Louis planned to deal the coveted No. 2 pick to the Redskins.

Now this is puzzling. If this is true and the Browns offered the same amount of #1's, why would the Rams choose the Skins' package?

Trade down.
Nothing at #4 that you can't get at #8 to #10.

Someone's going to want to overpay for Blackmon.
If it can land you another 1st next year, and another 2nd rounder, at least it adds some depth to the team.
and agree with tripods. Barkley or Bust next year.

I don't believe that for one second. Never happened. Just more mis-information leaked by the Browns to try and steady a fan base that they just completely lost.
Time to find a new team.

... I can see the Browns pussyfooting into discussions.
Rams' GM was on Rich Eisen's Podcast this week saying he wanted to START the bidding a 3 #1s at a MINIMUM.
Browns seem somewhat interested, trying to outsmart the Rams, offer some insulting offers so the Rams because the Browns are so damn smart but the Rams don't even think they are seriously interested.
Crazy Dan Snyder says F the 3 #1s, I'll throw in a #2 in addition just so you make the deal.
Rams don't even think to ask Browns to counter because their first offer was so bad they don't think they are serious.
Deal done, Browns realize they totally underbid and played their hand horribly and here we are.
I can totally see this happening.

Probably. If you're the Rams, and you know the Skins are desperate now that Manning told them to go fuck themselves, and they offer up that crazy boatload of picks, you just say "Yes" before they change their mind.
It's like a table with a bunch of guys that know how to play poker and a guy that just goes all-in every time. Sometimes you get fucked.
Not sure they would've paid that price anyway. I actually hope they DIDN'T offer the picks. Give them a chance to fail on their own convictions rather than just getting out-nutsed.

I hear ya, Chris, but this regime is so arrogant and condescending that I can totally see them thinking they are smart and not realizing who else was siting at the poker table.
If the Browns and Skins offered the same deal, why would the Rams take the Skins deal?
There's a detail missing that is bound to come out.

Having lost out on RG3, the Browns will trade back in the draft. RG3 will kill it this year while the Browns will still be in the cellar. In one last ditch effort to save their jobs, Walrus pulls an RG3 and trades multiple firsts to go up and take Barkley. Barkley is Leinart 2.0.
That would be my biggest fear if I were a Browns fan. Guess I really don't give a shit anymore.
