Good. I'm glad that the NFL owners are in charge of their league. I stopped watching the NBA b/c the owners turned the league over to the players.

Did you even follow either of the lockouts?

The other option is "don't work"

The inherent nature of a fucking LOCKOUT gives the power to the billionaire owners. It just does.

The owners won every single level of the NBA lockout.

In fact they bent the players over and raped them for the last month just because they could.

You speak of things you have absolutely no idea about.

And they followed it up by flexing and under a bullshit loophole untrading CP3 from one team and handing him to the biggest slimeball owner in all of sports.

Baseball players did............

And frankly with owners as rich and making as much money as they are now I doubt even a strike would have an impact. Owners have become untouchable fucks that dick over their customers and employees at every turn. This is another shining example.

If they won the lockout, they would have a Franchise tag. If they won the lockout, you wouldn't have key players demanding (and getting) trades the second the CBA was signed. If they won the lockout, you wouldn't have teams like Orlando desperately begging their star to stay and having him basically in control of where/if he goes.

You are a player shill. We get that. Very few others here are. Get over it.

Bullfucking shit, the owners didn't ask for a single one of those things.

They asked to take the players to the cleaners for more $$$$.

They did so.

They got what they wanted, the same everyone owner wants, money.

You don't lose a fucking lockout over a franchise tag you don't give two shits about getting, but since you followed the NBA Lockout so closely I am sure you can explain how everything went down....

And every year the owners in these leagues are getting more ridiculous, with CLEAR COLLUSION being the latest example.

And again, Dwight Howard is a cock but Orlando has been pretty much the worst managed team in the league over the past few years.

But keep speaking on shit you really have no clue about and defending your lovely little league's owners breaking the spirit of one of the most fundamentally American acts out there, while they bend their fan base over with ridiculous prices for both TV and Stadium experiences.

This isn't about being a player shill, there is a clear move over the past few years with these owners becoming giant corporations in their own rights that has caused a shift in accountability, as in the disappearance of it.

I'm not asking for much, just illegal horse shit being called out for what it is.

But carry on "Dwight Howard wants traded... sad face" loads of shit arguments.

You'd be much more effective/credible if your anti-owner rant at least placed a huge chunk of the blame on NFLPA Head D Smith for agreeing to this side bar agreement to not only raise the cap but to save his ass.

Couldn't have and wouldn't have happened without him. And 'him' is the players in these matters.

Just sayin'...

Christ, that was a horrendous read. Florio is such a tool.

Can we create a new forum called "Boring Shit That Only 4 People Care About" and move this cap-drama there?

You could just use this forum, and move this thread to late November when CBS is looking like a Marlins game.

FTR - I didn't say they asked for those things. But they should have. Those were my requirements if I were going to invest my continued interest in their league.

In other words, the only way I was going to stick around was if the NBA became more like the NFL.

Late to this, but yes it was collusion.

The fact that the NFLPA signed off just shows how shitty De Smith is at his job. He agreed to an artificial raising of the salary cap so that he won't look bad all while his players get less money.

Sure, you can say the same amount of money is available, but we all know that all teams will not max out their salary cap. Teams like Cincinnati won't even come close. Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones would have spent all of that space.

So the players get less money but the cap doesn't go down.

Cap actually went up.

And my point is e0y2e3 may want to look at D Smith as the PoS before he automatically jumps on the owners. That 'collusion' ain't happening unless the players' chosen representative doesn't sign off on it.

He works for them. They're the fucking idiots who still employ him. If anyone colluded against the renegade owners, well, that includes the players themselves.

Step 1. In final year, the CBA does not have a salary cap.

Step 2. The league office unilaterally imposes restrictions to limit the spending of money, as if there EAS a salary cap, in opposition to the current CBA.

Step 3. Lockout and new CBA.

Step 4. League imposes penalties on teams for not colluding, thereby admitting to collusion, and gets de smith to sign off on it so that they can jerryrig a higher salary cap number.

Goodell cheated the previous cba and de smith sold out his players.

I don't care about this. I just get a kick out of the victimization of a group of workers who hire a guy to operate on their behalf and who are somehow on the receiving end of sympathy when they were stupid enough to hire a guy who had his own interests at heart more than theirs.

If I'm getting divirced, and I hire a shitty lawyer, and my ex-wife walks away with everything, II guess I could blame the shitty lawyer and MF my ex-wife.

Be easier than admitting I fucked up and hired an asshole and that the mistake was mine.

Not valid to blame the ex-wife or my lawyer, but easier.

How can Ayatollah Goodell punish them for something he signed off on?

He either wasn't paying attention, which makes him incompetent, or he's hypocrite.

Or maybe he's both, lord knows he makes himself look like a arrogant fucktard every chance he gets.

Why aren't more people talking about this?

HE SIGNED OFF ON THEM BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT BE BLOCKED AT THE TIME. THEY WERE TOLD THOUGH THEY WOULD PAY WITH SALARY CAP ADJUSTMENTS FOR ANYONE THAT TOOK EXCESSIVE ADVANTAGE OF THE SITUATION. THEN THE OWNERS AND PLAYERS AGREED TO THE COMMISSIONER BEING ALLOWED TO PUNISH THE ONES THAT TOOK EXCESSIVE ADVANTAGE.

Don't eff with me tonight, I'm sitting in the office so I can have working heat and hot water because of how bad our damned electric company sucks at fixing explosion/fire from yesterday.

The Back Bay is still dark. Fuckers.

That'd be great. I was hoping for just one, long embrace.

Occupy the winking lizard! Then occupy an RTA, OCCUPY BEREA

Free agency/Trade Deadline/Casey Kotchman is making this bourbon go down easy.

Browns President Mike Holmgren said he made “every bit the offer” as the Washington Redskins to move up to No. 2 in the draft to take Robert Griffin III, but believes the Browns had no chance to trade with the St. Louis Rams.

“Honestly, when it didn’t happen I think there are reasons that I can’t go into right now, but there is a very close relationship between the people getting the deal done and the people who offered. And I’m not sure anything we offered would have been good enough. We were very, very aggressive and it didn’t work,” Holmgren said.

Holmgren made those comments on a conference call with Browns season-ticket holders. The question about the Browns’ seriousness about the trade talks did not come up until the 54th minute of a 60-minute question and answer session.

“Most of the stories that I have seen – all of them I’ve seen – were incorrect in what our offer was, when we entered the process and in how we went about it,” Holmgren said.

The relationship to which Holmgren referred was the friendship between Rams coach Jeff Fisher and Redskins coach Mike Shanahan.

The Redskins moved into the No. 2 spot by shipping the Rams their first-round position at No. 6, their second-round pick this year, and first-round picks in 2013 and 2014.

I'd honestly consider drafting Blackmon at this point to spite the rams.

"You want him so bad? Give us your first next year, and this year, and a 2nd, or sodd off".

I saw that a while ago.

I am literally and seriously stunned that we haven't had the "What a Lying PoS Holmgren Is" thread or post in response to it.

And you don't say that shit without it being valid because someone's gonna be pissed and call BS on you if you're lying.

People must be watching hoops or busy working.

Or crafting an elaborate response involving the Russian mob and a multi-national conspiracy.
