Throw that ball to the inside and the the Pats are holding The Lombardi.

Love the Giants and what they have done with a ton of injuries and at one point 7-7 and everyone calling for Coughlin's head on a pike. Proves what most have been discussing here all year - have a hot/elite/top/whatever you want to call him/ QB and you're never out of the running. That and a pass rush.

I've been wondering this too. Everyone's been referring to it as Welker's drop, but that ball was high and over the wrong shoulder. Not an easy catch by any stretch for a small WR like Welker. If Brady makes a better throw, I doubt Welker "drops" it.

He just missed the throw high. If Brady would've tried to hit Welker in stride, the safety had as good a shot at it as Welker would've. Brady almost was able to put it where his man could make a play. And like the TV guys pointed out, Welker "makes the play 100 times out of 100." Too bad for the Pats that was 101.

Recent Cleveland QBs (with the exception of DA in 2007 and maybe Holcomb in 2002) have not had the confidence in their receivers to even attempt a throw like that—and rightfully so, especially the last two or three seasons.

These pics aren't too good, but in the top you can see that Welker is running straight down the field, looking over his right (inside) shoulder. The Giants Safety is about 5 yards inside of him and upfield, running straight down the field as well (he's almost off the screen on the top shot EDIT - he's cut off after posted in the thread). At those angles, Brady had plenty of room to throw the ball the extra 3 feet to the right that it needed to be to be over Welker's proper shoulder.

Instead, he threw it high and over his left (outside) shoulder, making Welker have to leap in the air and twist his body around almost 180 degrees to try and make the catch. A makeable catch, certainly, but anyone who's ever tried making that catch can tell you it's a bitch.
