Lance Briggs annual trade request

Yet again, Lance Briggs wants out from under the Bears since they denied his request for a raise. Guy's getting up there in age (31 in Nov.) but is a 6-time Pro Bowler without being a huge name so he's earned them. He would help fill one of the biggest voids on the Browns roster. I've always been a fan of his and knowing that we have 2 first round picks next year, I'd try and see if they could get him for their 2nd rounder knowing they'd have to give him a contract extension.
Fuck the Browns...

You can want this, and it might even be smart, but it'll never happen in this year's "developmental" ideology.

Damn straight hiko.

Tank for the draft while developing the young kids is 100% on and nothing is gonna change that.

The FO couldn't be bothered w/ 1 year deals to young guys w/ upside (again, 90+ of 160 FAs signed 1 year deals) and you think they'd even consider giving up a pick for a 31 year old?

They don't care about winning this year.

At least Heckert and Holmgren don't, Shur! Mur! might.

I think they'd like to win this year, but that would be more of a pleasant surprise than an expectation. They certainly won't do so at risk of upsetting Le Scheme Grande.

I don't understand how high upside 1 year contracts would have upset the grand scheme.

Honestly don't think they want to win.

Let me put it this way, I think there is something to bow's Colt defining season theory.

W/ the roster as it is if he is great they'll still get an okay draft pick and not have to worry about QB. If he isn't the answer they will be in Suck For Luck territory.

They built this roster to flex between 3 and 7 wins, IMO.

Le Scheme Grande is just what you said - consolidate draft position, get lots of kids playing time.

Hiring a bunch of vets to one year contracts probably makes you a better team, but I believe they have no delusions about their chances this year - with or without a bunch of vets.

Hey, sure the vets weren't going to make a huge difference but a couple of high upside guys on the abortion we call a D and a right tackle certainly wouldn't have cost more than maybe a couple wins.

And if they work out you could have always resigned them.

Instead they said fuck it, no way we want an extra win or two, that doesn't matter.

Tanking for draft position.
