BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Philadelphia Eagles signed free agent defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins to a five-year contract on Saturday and traded former defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round pick in next year's draft.

Didn't we almost draft that guy the first time around?

He was on the board, but Romeo needed a speed rusher off the edge. You know, the complex nature of the 3-4 and all that. First, though, we had to hand the Ravens 3 time All Pro Haloti Ngata at NT. 'Cause I guess the 3-4 doesn't need a dominant nose tackle.

Update: he reported but we had concerns medically and was instead traded to the Broncos for an undisclosed 2013 pick. I'll add that Tom's tone was interesting, this being the case. He seems a bit bitter at Philly regarding this.

Broderick Bunkley reported to the Browns on Saturday, but the team had some medical concerns, a source said. He was then traded to Denver.

@AdamSchefter
Adam Schefter Technically, Bunkley never was a Brown because he never reported. Trade reverted back to PHIL and Eagles get Broncos pick.

@MaryKayCabot
Mary Kay Cabot #Browns GM Tom Heckert was asked about absent DT Brodrick Bunkley and was vague. Said "absolutely nothing'' to report. Said talk to Philly.

I think it’s too much or too strong or whatever.’ I said, ‘well, we might have to.’ And he goes, ‘well, if we have to, then you’ve got to tell me, because I won’t do it.’ And I said, ‘OK, then I might have to tell you. Fine.'''

How's that? ^^^^^

Weird situation for sure. Yet still a whole lot of 'meh'.

That'll do. Whole lotta meh. Yah, can't argue that very much at this point, for the FA season as a whole.....not making a splash is one thing, basically ignoring the fact that there is, in fact, a free agency market well that's a bit different.

At least when Mangini brought all those Jets over, they were willing to report.
