Raiders negotiating with Russell, Denver looking for Johnson

Unread postby jfiling » Mon Apr 23, 2007 5:55 pm

According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Raiders are currently hammering out a deal with JaMarcus Russell in order to have a contract negotiated before the draft. Also, Denver is in talks with Detroit to move up to #2 in order to draft Calvin Johnson. If both of these happen does this mean that Brady Quinn is a Brown, or can the Browns make a trade (Miami?) to move down, get some extra picks and put together an O-Line and get some extra prospects?

Well, with 5 days until the draft, I guess we'll know pretty quickly how accurate this info is.

And I did have a question in that post, couched with one huge "IF," and I really am curious what everyone thinks. I've been convinced for a few weeks that Brady Quinn is going to become a Brown, barring a trade-down, but if this info is correct it means that without a trade the Browns have the choice between A-Pete (my original first choice, until the Jamal Lewis trade [ugh, it was a free-agent signing, as Dozen noted below]), Quinn, or Joe Thomas.

Again, IF this info is correct, I personally think that we're going to hear Quinn's name called at #3.

I doubt Denver moves until Oak makes their selection, if that happens I think Apete or Brown in a trade down sceniero may take place. But Oak is in talks with BOTH CJ and JR................ And 8ball was a free-agent not a trade. The deal is only for 1 yr, so I still am holding out hope Apete is the pick.............. ANYONE BUT QUINN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
