McCoy has had possibly the most difficult first 3 starts any rookie QB can ever have and has come through it with two massive scalps and a brilliant display today.

What a game. What a crowd. No one in the place sat down for almost the entire 4th quarter. Everyone was standing and screaming in every 3rd down...that was probably the most fun I have ever had at a Browns game.

From the military guys on the field before the game (throw in the flyby for good measure) to the final whistle, there was a positive energy in that place like I have never seen. We EXPECTED to go out there and punch the Pats in the mouth.

The wonderful thing about this unexpected uprise the past month is that they're not only winning games -- but they're doing in a way that pleases us in Northeast Ohio the most. Having a blitzing, slightly crazy defensive scheme, a nasty offensive line (even the RIGHT SIDE of the line looked great with Porkchop over there!) and a running back who will single-handidly milk a clock with a lead in the fourth quarter.

They're winning and they're doing it in a style that I'd pick.

And for all of the Holmgren-as-coach discussions that took place this week, I'm not sure I'd want him to coach this team as currently constructed. This team doesn't fit the West Coast style. It would take another two years to convert it over to that system.

The NY Times story on Mangini this weekend really confirmed something I'd suspected but couldn't prove -- that Mangini is smart enough to build a winning team. It's just a matter of making his team believe in him.

I believe there is something here. I really hope they don't implode it by trying to shoehorn Holmgren into it.

This team as constructed needs a cornerback, backfield depth and a frontline wide reciever. But it has YOUNG and complementary pieces in place right now.

They are built to be a Cleveland team, not just a good one. That's important from marketing and franchise-identity perspectives.

What I want to know is when the pro-Mangini rhetoric will equal the anti-Mangini rhetoric both here and in the mainstream media.

I read today's recap and I will read tomorrow's PD articles as well. Still seems like people have a personal vendetta against the head coach here. He gets nowhere near the praise when they win these games as he gets the blame when they lose.

That's how it seems here and in the PD to me.

You know looking back at the schedule, all those losses were to Probable or certain Playoff teams.

I am really trying to keep an even keel, but its extremely hard not to see optimism with the schedule ahead. There are no teams with a winning record coming up after the Jets until week 16. That includes maybe the three worst teams in the NFL, Cinci, Carolina, and Buffalo.

If we roll the Jets, it's ON. For real here.
