God Bless America and Go Cleveland Browns

Unread postby 216 » Fri Oct 29, 2010 10:21 am

The other day I got a email in my .mil address (military email address) from the Cleveland Browns, asking active duty members from each branch to volunteer to help form the players introduction gauntlet for the November 7th game against The Patriots. From what I understand the players gauntlet is a man made tunnel the players of the Cleveland Browns will run through.

At first I thought no way I am standing on a field with 70K + fans look at me. I suffer from SERIOUS stage fright.

After I thought about it for about a day and half. More and More I started thinking
"ARE FREAKIN NUTS??"

This is might be a once in a lifetime chance. Fans dream of chances like this! I am not going to let stage fright deprive me! I will be on the field with the Players of the Cleveland Browns my favorite team since I can remember. If my deployed buddies found out I passed up a chance like this they would KICK MY A$$!

So I decided to jump on it!

Once I step out on that field I am going to look around and say "This is the most beautiful sight these tired old eyes have seen" I know it's from the movie Rudy!

My buddy did this last year and told me to arrive good and early. Because they will let you stand on the sidelines during warm ups numerous players while he was watching came up and shook hands and thanked him for his service. Some stopped and chatted for a good 5-10 min.

Looking forward to standing proudly on the Field with My Favorite team in front of my Hometown in uniform.

However I am on fence about one thing should I get the opportunity to meet Peyton Hillis I was debating if I should ask him if you do the salute he use to do in Denver when he scored in honor of the Military members serving at home and overseas. But I don’t want to come across as "tacky". What do you guys think? Honestly... its ok if you say :tool:

216,

Enjoy, congrats on the honor and have a great time.

And, hell yes, if you get a chance to tell Hillis the salute means something to guys who are serving I'm sure it'd mean something to him.

Congrats, and enjoy. Like you said, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Headbutt Hillis to get him fired up.

I didn't realize Hillis did the salute in Denver. I know that was Terrell Davis' thing - he had a family member in military service (his dad?) If Hillis did it in Denver but not here, he probably did it as a salute to Davis.

Which doesn't mean you shouldn't ask him. Absolutely do. Have fun.
It's only progress if you eventually get somewhere.
